Having owned several Subarus, I ensure to always use a factory oil filter. I especially like the black colored filters over the blue ones as they provide better quality and protection (this was reported on several Subaru blogs). I have experimented by cutting both a factory and a quality known brand filter and found the factory filter better constructed with a more robust relief valve. The filter came sealed therefore, I know it was not tampered with and branded by Subaru, not a filter made to look like a true Subaru product. The price was competitive with my local dealer price, and I did not have to drive the 30 miles to get a filter. The filter easily installs like it should without any leaks being observed thus far and I know its durability and performance will ensure my engine gets all the protection needed.

Got 2 of these for a 2013 Subaru Outback. I think these are slightly cheaper at our local (1.5 hours away) Subaru dealership, but my wife's car was due for an oil change and we didn't have any business near Subaru, so I ordered these for slightly more. They appear to be original and of good quality. I prefer to buy from the dealership, because of counterfeits sadly. In the future, I'll plan ahead better, but for this time and the next oil change, I'm using these. Fingers crossed. I'm doing a 5K mile interval, so hopefully that helps if these aren't OE. I don't notice any difference in engine performance. Since I don't get my oil tested on this car, I can't speak to how well it works, but I can say it seals well and does not leak. Gasket comes pre oiled. It's such a cheap part to risk your vehicle engine on, I would never buy a filter for my truck off of Amazon or Ebay, but for an older car, I'll take a risk. It’s the oil filter designed for your Subaru. And it’s not expensive either. It works great and keeps the engine running properly. And it comes with the proper crush washer. So why buy anything else?

Appears to be genuine filters, but these are white box, thought it would be a retail box. Hopefully they are genuine. Crush washers included. I will update when installed.

This is the current OEM filter for nearly all subaru engines. "15208AA21A" supercedes and replaces "15208AA20A". The two filters are indistinguishable from eachother. This is the only filter i will accept for any of my subaru vehicles. Fits my 2016 Forester 2.5i and my 2023 Ascent 2.0 turbo without any issues.
