you should rack it off the yeast bed leaving as much of the cake behind. when you go to move it to the counter for racking into the still, make sure to let it sit for 30 minutes after moving it so the trub can settle back down

Q: Does a container to catch the distillate come with this unit?

No, my unit did not arrive with a container to catch the distillate. I used a 4 ounce measuring cup to catch the distillate. I did have to use a small box to elevate the cup closer to the spout to avoid splattering.

Q: What type of outlet does it have? one made for american homes or nz ones? since from what i remember, we use two different wall outlets.

This has a standard 110V US cord and plug.
