I now have two of these but are not using them in the bathroom. I have patio steps that are not convenient for hand rails and the way the two doors work that open inward. I bolted one of these to the left hand door and it makes a fine hand rail up the three steps using the right hand door. The fold up option is handy if you swing the left hand door open to get this hand rail out of the way. I have the second one on an outside storage building for the same purpose. So far there have been no weather effect on the rubberized parts.

84 yr old Mother has problems rising from commode even though it’s the comfort height style. Had my handyman install these fold up grab bars in two bathrooms and they work perfectly. Awesome the way they fold up and are out of the way until needed. Deducted one star due to packaging - the rubber grip wrap around had small tears in both rails from the metal “biting” into it from the way they were boxed up. Returned for replacements and they were the same way! Black electrical tape is keeping the tears from getting bigger but you shouldn’t have to rig brand new products.

I bought this item to install next to bed or handicapped person. Several challenges turned up during the process:1. the drill bit mentioned in instructions is not a standard size, I had to go to the store to buy one just a bit smaller and one just a bit bigger .2 The screws are not the right size for my wall, the ends kept spinning because there was not enough wall thickness. I ended up getting some butterfly screws, drilled bigger holes and installed to secure to the wall .I cannot afford to play games with the safety of a handicapped person . what should have taken 20 minutes to complete took 3 days and headaches.

Wife lacks sufficient strength to rise from toilet, helps with dismount.

I put these by my hot tub to assist in climbing in and out and it works like a dream. Folds up out of the way when not in use and is very sturdy. It is a great alternative to traditional grab bars
