The BEST ice scrapers have brass blades
As a native snow bunny in Idaho, I know a thing or two about scraping frost and icy snow off car windows. And I have a small variety of scrapers that always live in my car. The ones with the brass blades, however, are the ones I go to when there is thick frost or the snow has fallen, melted, and frozen into a giant windshield ice block. They do NOT scratch the glass at all, because brass is a sorta soft metal and flexes a little as you scrap. However, because the blad is metal, the edge is much sharper than a plastic scraper, so it does a MUCH better job of separating the frozen stuff from the glass. Sometimes the frost is so tightly adhered to the window that I would need to go back and forth 3-4 times with a plastic scraper to get the frost off. Or I could just do one pass with a brass bladed scraper. Now, i wish with all my heart that some of the nicer snow brushes and such had bronze blades, but they do not. The only brass blades I've been able to find are these right here, and the plastic handles are not the toughest construction I've enountered. My last one's handle broke, which is why I am ordering more. But the blade is the thing to cherish, so I kept the broken one too.If you want the perfect tool for scraping ice and heavy frost, a brass blade is what you're looking for. Then keep one of those long handled brushes around to sweep off the snow before you start to scrape.

Does ok on ice.
This could use a little angle on the blade to take some stress off the wrist. The softer metal blade penetrates ice without damaging glass.

Best ice scraper.
I was concerned because it was metal. It works better than any ice scraper I've ever had. It doesn't scratch your windows at all.

Plastic sucks - Brass is king
Plastic scrapers suck...bad. They're useless. Brass ends might initially scare you into not buying it, but it never scratches your glass and whisks away ice with ease

These scrapers are okay
I bought two of these because of the low price. One scraper came with a slight dent which was big enough to make the scraper half as useful since there was not full contact, bending the metal back helped only slightly. The second one game in good shape but the scraper did not work as I had hoped and these scrapers are not useful for anything other than frost.

Perfect!
It's hard to reach across my windshield to scrape snow and ice off the entire area. The longer handle takes care of that. The metal blade is awesome. The plastic ones ding themselves on ice but not this blade. Fantastic!
