Is the netting dense enough to keep out midges?

I LIVE IN THE RURAL HIGHLANDS - MIDGE HEAVEN. I BOUGHT THIS HAT SPECIFICALLY FOR MIDGES AND IT DOES WORK - VERY WELL, IN FACT.

How do you collapse the hat to fit back into the cover

There's a steel wire rim built in with the hat which you twist and it folds in on itself. It then fits in the cover very easily. I thought it took a few goes and a bit of fiddling to get the hang of and then shortly afterwards it broke and poked through the fabric. It was sharp and potentially harmful.

Does anyone know the mesh width? i have some little mites about 1mm that drop on me from willow trees!! little buggers! lol

The mesh size is 1001 holes per square inch, which roughly equates to a hole measuring 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm, so it should do the trick!

Will this fit an 11 year old boy?

We have two. My husband's fits him fine but mine is a bit big so I should imagine it will be plenty big for an 11 year old. Perhaps too big. You can always line the top to make it fit better.
