This didn't work for me at all. It didn't hold for any length of time

I would try using a blow dryer/heat gun. Being careful not to over heat. Use a plastic putty type knife or a kitchen spatula to pry it off.

Q: Any suggestions on what to clean my car with before applying the glue on the surface? Just alcohol wipes?

Alcohol wipes should work fine ,wipe off with cotton cloth for any residue from the alcohol wipes
