Allen Company Buttstock Shotgun Shell Holder

A good match which compliments my Franchi Affinity shotgun without having to make cut outs in the shell holder to accommodate the shoulder sling swivel.

I have bought a few of these over the years. The elasticated Allen stock shell holders are better quality than the other out there.

This just works. Just order it. You can't go wrong for the price. It's obviously very affordable, retains the shells nicely and it's just the right size for 2.75in, 3in and 3.5in shells. You can even use it for mini-shells. You can keep two shells in each slot for a total of ten. The shells slide out nicely but they also retain firmly enough that you're not going to ever worry about it dropping a shell. This is a great option for an HD setup so you have 5 extra shells on hand. 2- 00 buck shells, 2- 1oz slugs and a 3in #4 Turkey shell are my picks for the HD setup. Maybe keep the slugs or whatever your preferred primary shell happens to be in the front two slots with the brass pointed down. You'll find it natural to smoothly grab them there and pop them into your tube mag or chamber. The rest of the shells orient the other way. That way I know by feel instantly the type of shell I'm grabbing. Slug or 00 buck. Also you can easily take the shell out from either direction regardless of brass orientation. The rim on the shell doesn't catch or make it too difficult to push/slide out of the retaining loop. All that matters is that you're comfortable and used to it. Get five of the quality aluminum dummy shells/snap caps so you can safely practice using the holder. Plus it's just nice having them to practice reloading, breaking in a new shotty, ensuring your shotgun is loading and dry cycling shells reliably. These fit factory 870 stocks perfectly. They fit just about everything nicely. It fits various turkish shotguns as well. All of my buddies/family have these for the most part. Great for a deer or duck hunting setup. If you have a sling stud you can just slide it right over it if you don't want to use it or very carefully make a very tiny slit with an exacto knife/razor blade so the stud can poke through. works great on Turkish 12ga colnes like Churchill

I mean, for the price, this works just perfectly for me. This thing fits snug on the buttstock, that's for sure. I have a Mossberg 590a1 with ghost ring sites. The 590a1 has this little piece that sticks up on the buttstock (i believe for a strap), and the strap unfortunately has to sit over that, but it doesn't impact the fit nor the effectiveness. The shells slide in and out easily enough, and they are definitely snug. I thought it might interfere with my right arm positioning, but it's perfectly placed and has zero effect on the handling of the gun itself. Takes a bit of wrangling to get over the ghost ring site (if you decide to do it from the front), but it wasn't impossible. You could theoretically go from the back as well, but the elastic (or whatever it's made of) material is very tight and although improbable, i didn't want to try to stretch it excessively over the butt itself from the back (paranoid since i didn't know the quality of the product itself) and cause it to be loose. In hindsight, the material seems very strong and it doesn't seem likely to lose its tightness. Overall, very pleased with this product. FYI my shotgun is for home protection, so i figured this sort of sleeve would be sufficient for my purposes (versus something tactical).
