I want to prune all day!
Used these on a laurel hedge. Lovely to use, made me want to prune everything! I've used electric trimmers on the hedge previously and these do a much much better job. You can get a really straight, level cut with these. No tearing at the leaves. Amazingly sharp. Having the slight curve made pruning the top edge simple, just turn them over.Light as well, i didn't get any shoulder or arm ache (I was only pruning for about 1hr though).I'll probably sell the electric ones now.We have a friend whom is a gardener and he tried the out...He now owns a pair.Everywhere was selling around the same price, delivery was fast.

Makes cutting the hedge a pleasure
Brilliant, with great design detail. I love using these shears. Their subtle curved design is great for subtle trimming of globe shaped box topiary. Strong enough to cut through thicker branches. So light and easy to use I have left my petrol hedge trimmer in the shed. Light, well balanced so easy for me as a lady to use for long periods. a great item and investment.

Not cheap, but light, solidly made, and frighteningly sharp
Bought these to do regular cutting back of a 100m long hedgerow, which previously I'd been doing with a petrol strimmer. Although a strimmer seems like it should be faster for that sort of job I find I can work for hours with these lightweight shears when my arms would be aching after an hour holding a strimmer at shoulder height. Plus working with shears is almost silent so I can listen to the radio while working rather than having to wear ear defenders. As others have commented these shears feel like real quality, very lightweight, and ferociously sharp. After two long sessions using them I thought I'd better wipe down the blades yesterday with some WD40 on a wad of kitchen paper. With a gentle wipe one of the blades cut straight through the paper, and then my finger, which is still pretty sore. Lesson: wear gardening gloves when wiping the blades down in future. Not a complaint, but an indication of just how sharp these blades are, even after a few hours cutting through blackthorn and hawthorn.Far superior to all the major brand shears I've used over the years, with the added bonus of having a funny name.

Extraordinary shears
Have used these shears for 2 years. These are stunning. Lightweight, ultra sharp and a pleasure to use. Throw away all your old shears and buy a pair of these. We use this for pretty much all the tasks and don’t just reserve them for high end topiary. These shears cope with everything you throw at them. Would t be without them. Probably one of the best manual garden tools we have. Buy them. You won’t be disappointed !

Samurai sharp
I purchased these shears because of what other reviewers have said. They are unbelievably sharp. I have just opened them and rapidly trimmed up a hedge. Why have I not discovered them before? Light and easy to use.

My review after 3 years...
This pair of shears has seen regular use at least twice per week, during the growing season, cutting and trimming a 40 meter horn beam hedge, and meters of Laurel Hedges, and a fair amount of shrubby topiary plant trimming. It has done well in all of those tasks. I do sharpen the blades when necessary, and keep the blades well oiled.Other than that, apart from re-tightening the pivot screws, it’s been plain sailing. However, this is not a ‘ lifetime’ tool. Unless you don’t use the shears...my niggle, and it is a moderate one, is the fact that the pivot screws are not up to scratch. It is for this reason, that my shears are now useless. I did order replacement screws, which are available, but these do not work. Once tightened you get 5 min max, before they come loose, misalign the blades, and you have to re- tighten repeatedly. This is a serious design fault, or perhaps designed specifically in this way in order to re purchase the product after 3 years. Works out at about £26.00 cost per year of use. I will buy a new pair, as I still believe these shears are the best shears available, to date, on the UK Market. Hope this helps!

Not cheap but quality
I have a pair of wooden handled Japanese shears and I have a lot of hedges and shrubs that need taming. The ARS shears are so different from the traditional shears. They are very sharp, they cut with precision and feel good in the hands.I bought a few years ago a pair of expensive Japanese scissors which were so much better than the things I had been using and so it is with these things: both do the job, it's just that these things do it better. If you are spending hours on end trimming hedges and trees do it with the best tools you can afford. You will not regret the expense.
