It has cross cut ground teeth, but it works well as a rip saw. To see it in use have a look at Paul Sellers you tube film call, handsaw comparisons with Paul Sellers. It a good saw for the money.

Mine is labelled 10 PPI (points per inch) and does measure 10 PPI and 9 TPI (teeth per inch).

I see they offer a 24" version as well as this 22" version - how/why choose one over the other?

The diference between the two versions is the number of teeth per inch (tpi). The 22'' version has 10 tpi and the 24'' (and the 26'' as well) has 7 tpi and therefore it cuts faster but leaves a coarser surface. I have them both, for cross cutting I use the 22'' only and I have filed the larger saw as a rip-cut.

Bought this and the handle is wobbling sideways because the recess is wider than the sawplate thickness, tapping on rivets didnt help

I bought this saw and would certainly not have accepted the fault that you have. This is a high end product that should give you excellent results and with the fault you describe accuracy would be very difficult. I would return for a replacement if I were you.
