Well. WOW. These Beyers are the absolute dogs....... I have owned many more expensive headphones from Sennheiser,Sony etc which are just not in the same league as far as I am concerned and having owned previously some DT770 which broke but I loved I thought I would get another pair from them and I am absolutely delighted I did. The open back gives a feeling of having your speakers right on your ears. I couldn't remember the 770s giving this amount of detail. These have just the correct amount of bass, treble and midrange whatever music you throw at them and they are by far the comfiest headphones I have ever owned or tried. Well worth the £134 I paid (I went for the edition version as all reviews I read said they were the comfiest for home use whereas the pro version was better for studios) and the 32ohm version so I could use them comfortably with my portable devices,although they are just as good with my main hi fi equipment. Honestly, they are a fantastic bit of kit and rightly deserved of all the great reviews of them. Buy, you will not be disappointed !!!

Excellent headphones, good build quality, excellent sound. I was searching for replacement from my Denon Ah-D2000 which broke. I read numerous reviews, was looking for comfortable pair of headphones with excellent sound quality, with more soft sound which is easy to listen to. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Edition 32 Ohm fits the bill perfectly. I was bit afraid that they will be too analytical and too sharp, but paired with my sound card they sound really nice. I'm listening all sort of musics, from classical, through blues and jazz to rock, heavy rock and metal. They are better for classical and jazz music though, there are better headphones for heavy metal, but these ones sound exactly like I like. Also good for watching movies. You can wear them for couple hours and your ears will not be in pain or bleeding. I'm very happy with the purchase so far.

at £100 good headphone great stereo field and nice sound

I have used a lot of better quality headphones over the years and have to say that these are really very good. Great open sound, and vocals and instruments come through clearly. As a sound test I normally use two tracks, Eagles `Hotel California` .All of the guitars,drums and vocals come through great and have a great atmosphere. The other test track is a complete contrast, Ravels `Bolero`. This starts off as a single instrument and builds up gradually to a great cresendo with all the orchestra involved, and these headphones pick up and place each instrument. They are very well made, have good adjustment, lightweight and comfortable for extended periods of time. As these are open backed headphones they are more suited for indoor use as they block very little noise coming from your music selection. The 32 ohm set are most suited for portable music players. Very happy to recommend.

Beyerdynamics are known for their treble, and this is definitely bright. Depending on the songs you listen to the treble is especially bright. If you can get past it or eq them, they sound pretty darn good. I also use these (32 ohm) for my Xbox Series X plugged into the controller, works great. I have my volume just over half way, which is plenty loud for me.

Using with smartphone and laptop. without dac/amp it was clear but not loud enough. Bass could be better but I am happy with this much.

Don't might many reviews but felt this was needed. Bought these open back headphones for music production and glad i did. Sound quality and detail is immense. Very comfortable and could wear for ages and forget they are on.

I use these for online games, single player games and I also listen to a lot of music. The clarity is amazing, with previous headphones I had to turn up the volume to hear a detailed sound, with these headphones I can have the volume much lower and still hear the details. When listening to bassy music I can use an equaliser for more bass and the headphones really deliver a punchy bass that doesn't sound muddy or distorted.

J'écoute beaucoup de musique tant à mon domicile qu'en déplacement, essentiellement avec casque, en situation nomade j'utilise un beyerdynamic t50p qui me coupe très correctement du bruit, sans atteindre bien sûr le niveau de réduction d'un bon casque à réduction de bruit, mais je cherchais un équilibre entre un niveau sonore extérieur acceptable et une très bonne qualité de restitution musicale ce qui est bien le cas avec le t50p sans avoir à monter le volume pour couvrir le bruit des transports en commun. Je cherchais donc un casque hi fi pour une écoute sédentaire à domicile sans déranger mon entourage par une écoute via enceintes. Après de multiples lectures et un pré choix au regard de ces lectures entre le sennheiser hd 650, Philips fidelio x1 ou X2 et akg k 701 ou 702, mon choix s'est finalement porté sur le beyerdynamic , je connais en effet la marque car je dispose du t50p, (je détiens également deux sennheiser dont le px100). pourquoi le beyerdynamic, pour la qualité de fabrication que j'aie pu tester avec le t50p et parce que je trouvais que le prix était plus intéressant au niveau il est vrai de l'akg k 701 toutefois pour l'akg j'avais lu des retours utilisateurs qui signalaient des dysfonctionnements assez rapidement et je ne souhaite pas si possible faire une expérience similaire. . Autre point important l'impédance puisque le beyerdynamic est proposé en trois impédances, soit 600,250 et 32 ohms ce qui n'est pas le cas des autres casques. Or ce point est important pour moi car j'écoute via un abonnement en streaming sur mon téléphone ou ma tablette y compris à domicile et non sur chaîne hi fi. J'ai donc choisi le 32 ohms. Le casque est donc volumineux, le câble connecté côté écouteur gauche, de 3 mètres un peu long puisque je le connecte à un smartphone ou une tablette, donc à une source qui reste à côté de moi. Il est d'excellente facture de fabrication, au début je le trouvais un peu lourd et il me serrait au niveau d'une oreille mais il s'est fait ou je me suis fait, je le porte donc plusieurs heures sans avoir à grimacer pour cause de douleur. S'agissant du son et après rodage dont il me semble qu'il a amélioré la qualité de restitution je trouve que ce casque a une excellente clarté et netteté sonore, le son est très détaillé tous les détails, les moindres instruments, les plus petits sons sont là bien audibles, on entend le frottement du doigt sur les cordes , presque le choc du marteau sur la corde du piano, c'est fabuleux,encore une fois très riche en sonorité et détaillé, sans qu'il y ait une sensation d'imprécision. Il a une excellente spacialisation, les sons, les instruments sont différenciés au niveau du casque comme s'ils correspondaient à une disposition orchestrale, les moindres expressions musicales sont perceptibles, ainsi que les accentuations allant du pianissimo au fortissimo, c'est assez extraordinaire de ressentir toutes les nuances qui sont jouées le son n'est pas linéaire. J'aime ses graves qui ne sont pas en 32 ohms omniprésents,il y a une fidèlité de restitution et lorsque un grave est restitué il est émouvant d'ampleur, de beauté et tenue, j'aime également les médiums qui me semblent équilibrés , les aigus sont parfois à mon sens mal maîtrisés et peuvent paraître perçants sur des morceaux pour lesquels les aigus dominent et si le volume est peut être trop fort. Mais ce problème si tant est qu' il y ait problème est réglé par l'utilisation d'un ampli casque portable qui égalisera la possible sybilance sur certains passages très aigus. Si l'écoute du casque 32 ohms est tout à fait possible sans ampli, pour avoir testé le son restitué, l,'écoute avec ampli apportera une qualité de restitution bien supérieure, la musique a beaucoup plus de relief, est plus riche et détaillée c'est une véritable écoute hi fi sans avoir besoin de pousser le volume ce serait donc dommage d'en faire l'impasse au risque de ne pas permettre au casque de donner le meilleur de ses possibilités. J'utilise personnellement un fiio kilimanjaro E11 qui est suffisant compte tenu du peu d'impédance. Mon plus gros problème dorénavant est de cesser l'écoute sais c'est une ressource renouvelée de plaisir. .

2012er Rezi: Wie ich in einigen Rezensionen lesen konnte, gab es Beschwerden bezüglich der scharfen Stimmenwiedergabe des DT990. In der Tat konnte ich diese auch vernehmen. Ich hörte jedoch MP3-Dateien (zwischen 192-320kbs) an meiner Creative Recoon3D Soundkarte, von der ich immer dachte, sie würde ein sehr feines und präzises Klangbild wiedergeben. Falsch gedacht! Angeschlossen am Cowon S9 präsentierte sich auf Klangeinstellung "normal" ein anderes Klangbild. Die Schärfen in den oberen Mitten waren fast weg. Der DT990 reagiert also sehr sensibel auf den Zuspieler. Nach einigen Stunden kann ich folgendes zum Klang sagen und fange mal mit dem Bass an: Der Bass ist definitiv angehoben und sehr tief. Ein Bassmonster ist der DT990 aber nicht. Vielmehr ergänzt er damit die eher kühle Mitten- und Höhenwiedergabe mit einer Portion wärme. Dabei handelt es sich nicht um einen schnellen, kantenscharfen Bass. Er klingt eher sanft und weich, ohne aber dabei matschig zu wirken oder bei schnellen Impulsen zu schwimmen. Ist dieser Hörer denn dann aufgrund der angehobeneren Bässe für das Hören klassischer Musik trotzdem zu empfehlen? Bedingt. Ich muss gestehen, so sehr mir der Klang gefällt, klassische Musik muss ein Stück Eleganz einbüßen. Das kann je nach Aufnahme bzw Abmischung auch variieren. Während die Stücke des Arvo Pärt Albums "Tabula Rasa" allgemein dezenter mit den Tieftonanteilen umgeht, gibt es wiederum gerade in der Filmmusik so einige Scores, die viel tiefspielende Cellos, Hörner und kräftige Pauken verwenden. Im Falle des "Herr der Ringe"-Soundtracks geht gerade in den Tiefbassfrequenzen daher ein wenig Präzision und Transparenz verloren. Außerdem kann angehobene Mittel-Oberbass durchaus auch mal etwas dröhnen durch kräftig, tief klingende Bläsereinsätze. Auf moderater Lautstärke fällt das gar nicht unangenehm auf. Wer jedoch gerne Klassik sehr laut hört, wird mit dem DT990 weniger Freude haben. Für alle andere Musikrichtungen ist jedoch viel Freude angesagt. Denn dieser Kopfhörer kann ordentlich Druck erzeugen, ohne dabei aber zu übertreiben. Er bringt den nötigen Spaß in jeden Song, ohne die unteren Mitten zu überdecken. Weiter mit den übrigen Frequenzen: In den Mitten klingt der DT990 etwas kühl bzw steril. Einige Songs und Stimmen profitieren durchaus von der Frische und Luftigkeit, andere Gesangsstimmen, insbesondere weibliche, können hin und wieder auch mal ein wenig kehlig klingen. Dennoch bildet der DT990 in diesem Bereich die Musik stets transparent und analytisch ab. Der Hochtonbereich glänzt von außerordentlicher Detailliertheit. Zum Test habe ich mir spezielle klassische Stücke angehört, die den Hochtonbereich voll und ganz auskosteten. Hier erwähne ich erneut das Album "Tabula Rasa" von Arvo Pärt. In diesen Stücken werden Violinen bis in die höchsten Tonebenen gespielt. Es ist schon beachtlich, wie fein und präzise der DT990 diese Tonlagen wiedergeben kann. Das aus meiner Sicht beste daran ist, dass er die Höhen da auch nicht abrundet, sondern gnadenlos abbildet. Gnadenlos ist der DT990 aber auch, wenn Aufnahmen Hintergrundrauschen beinhalten. So hört man z.B. bei einigen Stücken des Komponisten "Max Richter" deutliches Hintergrundrauschen (und damit meine ich nicht das von ihm ab und an eingesetzte Stilmittel). Bei anderen Stücken hört man dieses zwar auch, dann auch nicht mehr so stark. Dies nehme ich übrigens über die Creative Soundkarte so wahr, was ich mit einem Sennheiser HD555 und einem Denon AH-D1001 so noch nicht wahr nahm. Anders wiederum am Cowon S9, bei dem das Rauschen weitaus leiser bis kaum hörbar ist. Auf diesem Player höre ich mit dem Beyerdynamic Details heraus, die mir zuvor verborgen blieben. Es ist beinahe so, als würde der KH das komplette Lied durchsieben, durchfiltern um dem Zuhörer die kleinen Edelsteine zu präsentieren, die in jedem der Lieder stecken. In Sachen Räumlichkeit trumpft der DT990, wenn auch nicht außergewöhnlich weiträumig, sondern er bildet eher eine natürliche, luftige Räumlichkeit ab. Vergleiche ich es mit einem geschlossenen Denon AH-D1001, der deutlich intimer und kompakter klingt, wartet der DT990 mit einer freien, luftigen Wiedergabe auf, ohne dabei an irgendwelche Grenzen zu stoßen. Ebenso räumlich klingt auch der Sennheiser HD555, der aber klanglich weit von der Qualität des Beyerdynamic entfernt ist (er klingt eher sehr neutral und leicht verhangen in den Mitten und Höhen, besitzt wenig Brillanz und Auflösung). Der Tragekomfort ist sehr gut. Die Ohrpolster sind weich, der Anpressdruck moderat aber nicht zu lasch. Auch das Klima ist für die Ohren perfekt, man schwitzt selbst nach Stunden nicht. Der DT990 wird übrigens in einer schönen Kunstledertasche geliefert. Die Verarbeitung des Kopfhörers gefällt mir sehr gut, da er sehr robust wirkt, aber dennoch kein hohes Gewicht hat. Auch das dicke, lange Kabel wirkt robust, aber es ist leider auch fest installiert und bei einem Defekt nicht so leicht austauschbar. Mein Fazit: Der DT990 ist ein luftiger Köpfhörer in zweierlei Hinsicht. Zum einen wegen seines freien, räumlichen Klangs, und zum anderen, weil er sehr angenehm über einen längeren Zeitraum zu tragen ist. Beim Klang muss man sich auf einen Badewannenfrequenzgang einstellen. Neutral ist dieser Köpfhörer keineswegs, auch wenn er Mitten und Höhen schön detailliert und transparent wiedergibt, so sorgt die Bassanhebung dafür, dass man unter Umständen gerade im Bereich Klassik nicht die nötige Durchhörbarkeit der tieferen Töne garantiert bekommt, dafür aber um so mehr Spaß mit anderen Musikrichtungen hat. Seine Verarbeitungs- und Materialqualität ist tadellos. * * * * * Nachtrag 2023: Immernoch habe ich viel Spaß mit dem DT990. Materialschwächen gab es bisher keine. Er sieht immer noch aus wie an Tag eins! Ich habe eine ganze Sammlung von Köpfhörern, die sogar jünger sind, als der Beyer. Die Hälfte zeigt bereits jetzt schon Verschleißerscheinungen, wie kaputte Ohrpolster, gebrochene Stellen am Kunststoffbügel oder klebrige Kabelummantelungen. Die Qualität der Abspielquellen haben sich auch mittlerweile geändert und so konnte ich das Potenzial des DT990 noch weiter ausreizen und diesen Kopfhörer sozusagen nochmal neu entdecken. Die Investition hat sich jedenfalls voll rentiert.

The short version of this review is that I am 100%, absolutely pleased with these headphones and would buy them again. The long - What do I like? Sound - Pristine reproduction, almost completely uncolored. Pure, clean bass and excellent sound imaging. Instrument / performer location is nearly transparent with these, creating a wide soundstage. A great test album for these 'phones is the Bill Evans Trio album "Exporations". "Nardis", "Israel" and "Elsa" feature some very low acoustic bass from Scott LaFaro and very delicate brush work on the drums. These are the first headphones that I have heard that reproduce this so well. Classical music sounds excellent as well - John Eliot Gardiner's recording of Beethoven's Symphonies on period instruments is ridiculous on these. It sounds so good! Modern rock is also handled with ease - uncolored and clear. Perfect bass response, and when you want a boost in the bass, the DT990s handle the extra kick easily. I used the EQ on my headphone amp to boost the bass as a test, and found no problems or muddiness. IMHO, these phone do not need the bass boosted - they sound great with no EQ. Comfort - The most comfortable headphones I have worn. I don't think there is any problem here for anyone. Construction - Okay, these are only a few weeks old. I cannot attest to the long-term durability. I can say that they appear ot built very well. The cord is heavy and appears to be durable. The constuction is solid, yet lightweight. I think it'll do just fine over time. Comparison - I do NOT own 43 different pairs of expensive headphones. (As it seems many reviewers claim to own!) I have one other pair of "real" headphones; Grado mid-priced (~$100) headphones that sound great as well. The DT 990 kills them, leaves them in the dust so to speak - as they should for the price difference! (But I still love the Grados!) What I was able to do a few months ago was visit this absurd electrincs shop in Tokyo (Akihabara) and audition a ton of 'phones with my own MP3 files. The DT 900s were among them. The only headphones that I thought were this good were the Sennheiser's with "wood-trim" and the DT 880. (Sorry, I forgot the model number of the Sennheiser) I cannot give you a run-down of this model compared to that model ad infinitum. The DT 990s sounded better (to me) than many 'phones costing quite a bit more - some AKGs (I think the Quincy Jones model) and Audio Technica were hundreds more expensive and IMHO were inferior to these. I can tell you that I love the sound of these and do not regret buying them. I am not going to comment on noise isolation. These are open type 'phones, as anyone intelligent enough to read has already discovered in the product description. If you are reading this and don't know what that means, do an internet search on that term. Plus that, they are GERMAN made and engineered! (If you don't know it by now, literally every product made in Germany is superior to similar products made elsewhere with one exception - dental floss.) This product again reinforces my admiration for German engineering. Simply awesome product! I hope that this review helps you to decide what to buy. I had a very difficult time deciding, and had the good fortune of being able to visit Tokyo prior to buying. I was able to audition dozens of headphones in a store there, Akihabara. I don't think that you will find that here in the US. (If there was a store like that here, all of the audition headphones would either be broken or stolen, sadly.) Update - December 30, 2012 - Fantastic 'phones!!!! I am fully aware that nearly all headphones exhibit some type of "break-in" where the audio qualities may change slightly after some hours of use. I can only say that the Beyerdynamics sound better to me than they did a month ago. Hard to qualify that, really... I think that they sound more "open" and transparent. Excellent 'phones, no change in my opinion from earlier. Just a very fine audio product and the best headphones I have heard. Easily in the category of "Would buy again." Update - January 2014 - Better than ever - cannot knock these at all. Worth the money, sound great, look and feel as good as the day they were new. Sound better than new. Very happy with these after living with them a bit now... I recently bought the much cheaper Bro' of these Beyerdynamic DTX 910 Stereo Headphones for Portable and Home usage (Silver Black) for use away from home, and am very pleased with those for $70.

Hörlurar som låter mycket balanserat. Bra bas, lagom fylligt mellanregister och distinkt och klar diskant utan att det blir tröttsamt. Dessutom bekväma och lätta lurar. Bättre kvot kvalité/pris är nog svår att finna. Varm rekommendation.
