Triton 1010W Compact Precision Plunge Router JOF001 (925837)

Absolutely marvelous. Used it as a temporary replacement on my router table for my larger Triton Router which had been working faithfully for 20 years but needed a new switch.Love the height adjustment winder through the footplate. No fiddling beneath the table - fantastic.

I have 1 of the original tra001 routers which I bought nearly 20 years ago. It stays mostly in my router table. It still handles all I throw at it. I needed a smaller router and decided to give this one a try. It's much smaller the it's big brother and lighter also but still a very solid machine. The dust extraction works brilliantly as do the perspex chip guards. Although you could have issues if you don't use extraction. Bit changing is so easy as the collet protrudes through the base by about 3\4 of an inch, so like it's big brother it will work well in a router table. This is one of the safest routers on the market with a host of safety features not present on any other router I've used. So far I've only used this for cutting some mortise joints in oak, and some decorative edging. I'm very happy with the performance so far, it handled the oak with ease. I also bought the 1/4 inch collet as I will use smaller cutters from time to time as well. Having been a triton fan (instruction manuals are rubbish though) i can't begin to tell you just how good triton routers are.

I agree with almost all of what Will said about this product in his review of 28 July 2011. I disagree only with the point about the on/off switch; I think the switch is in a slightly awkward position, but that's hardly a big problem. Otherwise my early impressions are all positive. The bit change is particularly easy, aided by the clever positioning of the power cable which allows the user to stand the router upside down without it wanting to topple over. I have used the fence a couple of times and it is really solid. For clarity, the router comes with the fence and winder handle for adjusting the depth of cut from above the table. The latter works great. I have come across softer starts than this one, but it is still controlable.Only time will tell about the longevity of this machine, but brush changes look like a doddle. All in all, I don't see a comparable router in this price range.

This is great value for the money. It is the entry 1/2” Router by Triton but it is excellent for the job in hand. I’m building a router table and I chose this because you can adjust the height from above the table.

Good machine. Got it to mount on a table. Does what I need it to do with no problem.On the other hand- I am unsatisfied with amazon customer service uk!The tool arrived with missing parts that are important. Bolts that connect the guide base and plastic protector.Customer service answer is to return and get full refund.I don't live in the uk so to return is not a good option for me- to return it would cost half the price of the tool! NOT MY FALT IT CAME WITH MISSING PARTS.bottom line:Good tool.Bad customer service.Rather purches from amazon Germany or USA that in time of need won't neglect there customers.

Excellent router. Mine came with 6mm, 12mm and 1/2" collets. I have some 1/4" bits and had to buy an additional collet, it would have been preferable to supply a 1/4" one in the package instead of those metric collets. The only other thing that doesn't work so great is the plunge mechanism, it tends to stick and jerk up and down a bit, but I find that the fine adjustment knob and the supplied table winder make up for this easily, it still deserves 5 stars.

If you intend to use this router with guide bushes you will need to purchase the Triton TGA250 Template Guide Set, for an extra £84.12, as there is no provision to fit guide bushes without it. The Trend Universal Sub Base does not fit, so there is no cheaper alternative. Apart from that, the router has successfully been used in the joining of two kitchen worktops. I can, however, confirm that the plunge mechanism is not very smooth, despite spraying with silicon.

A great router from Triton, with an adjustable rod that you can also access from underneath, which makes it excelent for router tables. It is also very easy to change the router bits, since the part that supports the collet goes all the way up (when it's upside down).
