Based on the main reviews of those claiming to go from expensive ground beans to this and finding it wonderful, I gave it a try. All it suggests to me is that there's no accounting for taste. I would suggest anyone who can go from an expensive bean to this and not notice a major difference has a very different set of taste buds from me. Don't get me wrong - this isn't bad coffee and if you find basic "donut shop" style coffee to your general liking, you'll probably like this too (it really reminds me of the coffee I get at the local Taco Cabana with my breakfast tacos). And given the price point, it is hard to beat. But comparing this to more expensive coffee is like comparing a draft horse to a race horse - they're both horses, to be sure, but they have different DNA. This has a general flavor profile similar to other canned coffees with a bitter aftertaste and a "back of the throat" feel that you'll get with things like Maxwell House, Folgers and other canned coffee. The overall flavor just gets more bitter with added grounds to the brewing process instead of kicking up the flavor. Compared to the recent ground LaVazza that I just finished-up, the two coffees are in completely different classes. But, to be fair, LaVazza is 2 times the cost of this per ounce. I should make it clear, I drink coffee black, so the flavor doesn't hide behind cream and sugar, so I may have a different perspective to those who doctor their brew. Bottom line, if you want a budget coffee that is about the quality you'll get at the local gas station, this is a fine option.

I love this coffee. Smooth, strong, and exactly what I need in the morning. Plus, it helps keep me out of jail — because without caffeine, I’m not responsible for what happens. Great flavor and a solid everyday brew. Be advised the price swings wildly. The big box store that starts with a W often sells it and the lower end of the Amazon price range.

Great coffee! After seeing my favorite coffee at the grocery store was $12 for 12 ounces,I read several reviews, and decided to give this a try. ( I also had fond memories of my mom buying this when I was a teenager, so I was intrigued. I wasn’t sure it would still be good, but it was!) I have a Ninja Pods and Grounds coffee machine that I love, and tried this coffee with both methods. The grounds method was my favorite. Making 2+ cups at a time definitely made better coffee than just one in a single-serve pod, but I still use pods once in a while. The coffee comes ground in a 30 ounce can, and I put half of it into a Tupperware in the cupboard and half of it in the freezer. Generally, I buy beans, but this ground coffee was a nice surprise. For a dark roast, it’s not bitter, yet has that nice strong flavor that I look for.
