Wavlink USB 3.0 Single Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station Support 2.5 and 3.5 inch HDD and SSD

My desktop computer recently decided to crash and having not backed up for sometime, was at my wits end and quite frankly past the point of being coherent in any context! Having googled every conceivable forum out there for black screens I luckily came across advice to get a docking station for my hard drive! Having searched and read that many reviews on Amazon for various docking stations I plumped for this one, mainly because it was the only one that was not prone to overheating/rattle/die. This thing is brilliant, fairly quiet and having left it on the other day, did not over heat. Incredibly easy to use (you plonk the hard drive in and pray...well I did the first time!), connect via a usb to a laptop for me and bingo... my accounts etc. were all there. To convert your hard drive to an external one is brilliant and has given me the time I need to look for a new computer and not run round like a headless chicken, and will also be a breeze copying the files over!

Let me start by saying, this is a great drive dock. I had a WD 4tb Red that got corrupt by the dock, that I initially thought was the dock itself.After much research, it was actually Window 10's fast startup. With this option on, even if you safely remove drives or shutdown your PC, Windows remembers the current drive that's in the docked.If you then swap to another drive in, Windows still thinks you have the first drive in, then BAM! Your drive is wrecked if you try to access it!PLEASE TURN OFF FAST STARTUP!!! It's in the Power Options.Glad I got that out the way. Back to the dock. It's fast, nice build and just works. I manage to read 4 other old drives that wouldn't mount before with an older dock.Based on my experience with the dock, it is highly recommended.

The best docking station since sliced bread, I love this unit and boy it works so well you can not hear it at all, first have to say Amazon go out of there way to make sure you get your goods in A1 condition. For sorting, testing or using multiple hard drives this is a really useful device. It uses an ASMedia controller chip which are (in my experience) the most reliable. My only concern is how robust the drive connector will be over time, but so far it's fine.

It only took 5 minutes to unpack and have up and running! Well packaged and designed - I particularly liked the "sturdiness" of the design which sits firmly on a desktop when loaded up with a hard drive. Also liked the "rocker" on and off switch on the rear - far better than a push button some units have.All in all a very good product for the price with exceptionally quick delivery. If you want a docking station that is easy to use and sturdy this is the one for you!

Worked OK, but disappointing in every other aspect.Getting a drive to fit into the unit was a struggle, it was almost as if it was designed to make this obligatory operation as awkward as possible. It also has an annoyingly positioned mains switch of the rocker switch type, when a simple push-on, push-off type would have better suited me.Ultimately returned it for another design.

It can help when running diagnostics on a hard drive from another PC or laptop.You can utilise old SATA drives from devices such as PC, laptops, and even TV boxes to reformat and use as backup storage for old documents, photos, videos...A good piece of kit!

I received this product on the delivery date. However once I plugged it into a power source it doesn't work, I have tried switching it on and off but I only get a flicker of light on the LED so I guess the problem is with the switching circuit, I am very disappointed and would strongly advise you not to buy this item.
