Q: Does it work better if it’s filled to the max? Or will it work just as good with 1/4 teaspoon of pellets?

Not sure but I filled it 1/4 of the way and several pellets came out at once. The manufacturer said the amount can be adjusted but not so. At least I never found a way and I followed their directions. If you have a betta this would be way too much food for them.

Q: Does this work for dried bloodworms?

not sure, never tried it with dried bloodworms. The opening is small so if the bloodworms clump together or can get stuck, then I would say its better not to use it with the feeder. Its designed for little round pellets
