John Moffatt as Poirot brings this story to life...
This 2003 production of Taken at the Flood directed by Enyd Williams from a Michael Bakewell dramatisation is set in the 1940s. As a novel this is I am told one of Agatha Christie's lesser known but that matters not a jot as it is a great 2 hours plus of classic radio drama. As with Agatha Christie stories there are plenty of red herrings and played by a most talented cast. If you are a radio drama fan and can close your eyes and recognise the voice of an actor then that for me is an added treat. I immediately heard Derek Waring and Mary Wimbush. This is a lovely period piece with relatives scheming to get money from a recently widowed woman but are they what they seem? John Moffatt I cannot fault as he conjures up M Poirot every time and the more you hear his characterisation the more you will enjoy it. Good value and an ideal gift.

Poirot
I now have all the Agatha Christie BBC radio drama's and every one of them is a treasure. Taken at the Flood is just classic Christie and this follows the book pretty well. The plot revolves around a family believing they should have received their brother's inheritance but it was suspiciously given to a mysterious woman claiming to be his wife. As usual, the production is top notch and any Christie drama fan should have this in their collection.

Typically Christie
I love the way each red herring is so believable with Agatha, she still is the number one Author for crime for me.
