Bought the best then all the rest Now I've gone back to the best
After breaking my foot in 2016 my son bought me the Thermos 2 litre push top so I could manage til he was home from work and again through the night. It was a brilliant purchase and the flask worked so well for me that I continued to use it on a daily basis until 4 years later almost to the day, part of the inner plastic pump rotted away and it lost the pump action. Sadly I couldnt buy a spare part so had to buy a new one. As I am arthritic I decided to try a lever pump flask but Thermos seem only to make the 2 litre version in the old style. So bought a different make. Wrong thing to do! Once liquid was removed the water grew cold after 4 hours instead of 12 with the Thermos flask. So my first thing in the morning drink had to be heated slightly in the kettle (as I drink black tea and coffee its easier just to fill with hot water and make the drink as I want it. This has several advantages. No wasting anything but hot water and I had a choice of drink, sometimes preferring instant hot choc or soup. In addition there is only the need for me to boil exactly 2.5 litres twice a day therefore saving on electric because we always put more than we need to boil in the kettle). My son bought me another flask as the new one was no good but I had only marginal improvement. Fed up I decided to bite the bullet and buy a trusty Thermos. To get the lever action I increased to 2.5 litres but I am not disappointed. Started using it after quick delivery (2 days) and its even better at keeping hot than my first. I emptied the flask for the last mug this morning after 17 hours and it was still hot though could have done with 10 seconds in the kettle. But, that was from an almost empty flask leaving no more than a tablespoonful inside once I had filled my mug. I would normally either reheat or refill around midnight which takes me through to mid afternoon. So if you want a hot water drinking system on tap then I dont think you will find better. The lever pump is great and efficient to the last drop. Great benefit for my hands too. I just wish Thermos sold spares. My old flask is sat idle but i cant bring myself to throw it out, hoping for a miracle! Hope this helps you to decide. For me, using the flask as I do, it was worth paying a bit extra to get the best heat preservation over a much longer period..

Heat retention test for this great flask
Had this nearly a whole week now, having read all the reviews as you do, and are very impressed. Have found it keeps water hotter than any top rated flask we have had to date which includes the 1.8 litre jobs. There is no doubt in my opinion that the glass liner flasks do keep water hotter than aluminium units do, having tested many by taking the temperature readings over differing periods. Prior to testing we held Utitlity room temp at a steady 15.9c. Flask was then pre-heated with 100c water for five minutes. I used the DIGIFLEX Digital LCD Food Thermometer Cooking Probe which I also bough from Amazon recently - its a great tool too! 1st test with flask full and not used: Hrs passed | Temp 0 - - - - - - 98.8c 5 - - - - - - 89.8 10 - - - - - 82.1 12 - - - - - 78.5 20 - - - - - 69.7 24 - - - - - 65.7 2nd test will hopefully give some real life idea of water temp to be expected with water drawn. 0 - - - - - - 99.4c at 2 hours into test, 2 cups of water are drawn. 5 - - - - - - 88 at 9 hours into test, 2 cups of water are drawn - leaving 4 cups remaining in flask. 10 - - - - - 79.1 20 - - - - - 60.6 24 - - - - - 55.6 The pump is great, as is the build of the unit, but i guess we will have to wait and see how it performs over time. I'll give an update, if possible, in 3 month or so time. Worth the money and less expensive than many top flasks although i=this is on the large size and not suitable for the backpack. The rotating base is very easy and pleasing to use and the carry hanlde is a comfortable. Like others, we have been using this for hot water storage. Take advantage of the PV solar panels during the day, by boiling lots of water thus making efficient use of that free power and reducing our power bill at night by using the stored hot water instead of having to put the kettle on. Hope the above helps

Fantastic
With regard to other reviewers experiences of the Thermos arriving already shattered -- I'm sure this happens, but on this occasion the Thermos arrived perfectly, and was very well (and spaciously) packaged. Amazon's customer service has in my experience generally been of a very high quality, and I would trust other customers' reviews that in the event that this does arrive already broken that Amazon will speedily dispatch a replacement. The Thermos itself: the pump action is satisfying and smooth (compare this to the push button operation of the smaller capacity models and it's a clear winner) and the swivel mechanism makes it very useful as a desktop accompaniment.. Construction quality is very sturdy, like all Thermos products, and both the height of the dispenser and its capacity are impressive. For those concerned about BPA(that includes me), you can rely on Thermos' commitment not to use plastics containing it. As for the all-important heat retention: I'm currently drinking coffee that was brewed a full 24 hours ago: it's still warm, actually verging on hot, and is actually at the temperature that I prefer. I wouldn't recommend (for hygiene reasons) keeping hot beverages for longer than that, but it's convenient to know that the model has no problem holding heat for a whole day. I actually bought this just for myself: I drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day (~800ml -1litre), so this should hold enough coffee, at one time, to keep me happily caffeinated for two whole days, though more than likely this fairly gigantic unit will attract the attention of my co-workers for whom I'll be only too happy to offer some coffee! If coffee's not your thing this would make a nice dispensing unit for tea, soup, or - I believe - cold beer. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with this product and would unhesitatingly recommend.

excellent for storage of hot water BUT has a weak point.
Bought this a few months ago and it has been in use everyday since it arrived. We store boiling water from our Buffalo airpot as a means of maximising our solar polar electricity. We store the boiling water from about lunchtime, overnight and it is hot enough to burn the skin if not careful and we can reboil quickly in the kettle first thing in the morning in about 30 s to make tea. An excellent product. Glass liners (whilst more fragile and hence need looking after) are far superior to the stainless steel lined thermos flasks. It is easy to clean with citric acid. Just look after the small plastic(?)/nylon(?) tube at the bottom of the plunger as this produces the pressure necessary to enable the pump action. The lever is easy to operate although care must be taken not to pinch a finger behind it. You only do this once! We have used this daily for 18 months BUT TODAY THE LEVER BROKE. It is plastic and the weak part of the design. It should really be a steel lever to last. The flask is excellent and would still work but can no longer be used safely as pouring very hot water from the spout is dangerous due to the delivery hole.

Better than pioneer and Andrew James pump pots
The tile says it's all. It says hot enough to brew tea, when full with no air gap, for easily 12 hrs. Once you use a cup of water you lose the thermal efficiency as the air gap causes heat loss to the air within the vacuum chamber.... Anyway.... It's glass insulated so it holds heat better than a stainless vacuum, it's more fragile but fine if you are keeping it on a kitchen worktop. It doesn't bleed much heat from the lid unlike the Pioneer and equivalents. One press of the pump puts out about 400ml of liquid, this is excellent compared to the shoddy 100ml ish flow per pump of the pioneer. It's better built than any of the other cruddy pump pots on Amazon. The lid pops off easily, the base spins easily, the flow of water is nice and smooth, the pump action is easy and flows very well. Pity they don't do a 5l... But I think this is a limitation of a glass vacuum , it'll probably crack under the weight of the water..... Basically the best pump pot you can buy I've found. Don't cheap out........

Really good Thermos flask!
This flask is as good as it's name suggests, keeping water hot for 12 hours, in fact it's still warm the next day. Attractive design with excellent pump action, I cannot fault it. It is very well made and I can see it will last for a long time. I tried a couple of cheaper options but they were very much inferior to this one, worth the extra money!

Rubbish!
First of all I should point out that I loved this product, it was just what I was after But, I can’t recommend it and here’s why!… I ordered it on next day delivery as I’m an Amazon Prime member. It arrived the following day (a Sunday), The delivery guy left the box on my doorstep, knocked on the door then left before I answered the door. It was very obvious that the contents were damaged, could hear the broken glass inside the package. Sure enough when I opened the box the entire inside of the Flask was smashed to pieces! I contacted Amazon that evening and their response was excellent… I parcelled up the damaged item and returned it via Hermes the following day. In the meantime, Amazon sent out a replacement without charging me again. So long as the original product was returned by a certain date, no further charge was made. The replacement item arrived a couple of days later, much better packaging so it arrived in perfect condition. I followed the instructions (very tiny instruction leaflet in box), washed it, filled it and it was perfect. Kept boiled water hot for 12 hours. It’s an easy way to reduce electricity costs, only need to boil the kettle a couple of times to fill it then I didn’t need to use my kettle again during the day. After a week I noticed the inside of the flask and the dispenser pipe were furred up with limescale… it’s not the easiest product to wash as it’s impossible to put your hand inside it… I bought a reputable descaler, followed the instructions, filled the flask with cold water and descaler tablet and it exploded! That isn’t an exaggeration! My husband heard the explosion and came running… I was showered in glass particles, it had blown the entire bottom off the flask so water was everywhere, and the inside had completely disintegrated. 3 weeks later and I’m still finding minute shards of glass in my kitchen . Having had this product twice, both times the inside was severely damaged, I CANNOT recommend it… it is dangerous to say the least….

Great addition to the kitchen
This is a super product, great value for money. Remember to heat it with boiling water first for 10 mins, empty out and then fill. We work from home and drink tea and coffee all day. It prevents us from constantly boiling the kettle and wasting electricity. Water kept very hot. It was also very handy for family party. I had it set aside with tea bags and jug of milk nearby and people could help themselves. I would not use it for picnics as it has a glass inner and could break easily. We have a different flask jug for that. It is all stainless steel. Does not heat as well as thermos but don't need to worry about dropping and breaking glass. Would highly recommend.
