Great bit of kit
Great adaptor, have retired my 1.7x one as it was old. Optics are great as you'd expect from Nikon, I use F2.8 lenses, so F5.6 isn't bad. I keep it in my bag all the time, and use it regularly Paid £329, guess Brexit is to blame for the increase.

Excellent low cost choice for supertelephoto.
Works surprising well. I have 4 compatible lenses which all autofocus with this converter even on older bodies. The lenses I use it with are 105 f2.8 macro which does autofocus even though Nikon compatibility chart say it does not (not tested for macro work). It also works well with my 70-200 f4, 300 f2.8 VRII and even under indoor lighting with my recently procured 300 f4 PF. I already owned the 1.4 TC II and 1.7 TCII converters and certainly with the f4 lenses autofocus does noticeably slow down with each subsequent size of converter. What surprised me was that even my old bodies D50, D300 and D700 still work with my f4 lenses plus this 2X converter even though their AF is only rated to f5.6 and the D500 was only slightly faster in its ability to focus. While there is some slight trade of in sharpness I find the combination of 300 f4 PF and this converter gives a light and very useable equivalent 600 f8 which can be handheld in good light using fast shutter speeds on my D500 with increased ISO. Works even better with the 300 f2.8 but becoming heavy and really needs support.

Much Improved Over The Last Version
I have had many teleconverters in the past 1.4, 1.7 and the previous 2 x versions of this teleconverter, using them with the 70-200 f2.8 Vr11 and the 300mm f2.8 Vr1 lenses for that extra bit of reach all bird and wildlife photographers crave. In the past the results when using the older 2 x converters have been very soft and disappointing compared to the 1.4 & 1.7 versions and even my 300mm f2.8 sometimes struggled for quick focus in low light conditions. This new version however is a real step up, it focuses quickly with none of the hunting and provides excellent sharp images and as a result is a massive improvement on whats gone before. Although quite expensive it converts your 70-200 to a 140-400 lens at a fraction of the cost of a 200-400 lens with the loss of a few stops, but believe me at f6.3 or f8 the combination is as sharp as knife. All in all this new version works very well, but check the Nikon lens compatibility before you purchase, as it won't always auto focus with many f4 + lenses.

Great piece of kit
Great piece of kit which allows me to turn my 70-200mm zoom lens into a 140-400mm zoom lens. This means I can now do wildlife photography much easier than before owning the teleconverter.

Compatibility Chart doesn't tell the whole story
This converters works more 'acceptably' with wider aperture and slightly lower length lenses. I bought this to go with my AF-S 80-400mm f4.5-5.6 VR Nikkor, which the chart says is compatible, and it is but only to a point. As the max aperture becomes f11, one stop down for max sharpness and you get f16! The converter is calibrated to work to f8. I only get an almost functioning AF at 250mm (500mm) @ f11, anything more the AF just hunts continually. Sharpness is acceptable/good. I bought it second hand, thankfully. It's a good 2x converter but with very limited AF very disappointing.

Defective after 6 months - long wait for repair
I have had 2 copies of this product. The first was horribly soft (& was returned); the second extremely sharp and a good performer with the right lens. However after 6 months occasional use, the engaging mechanism (to the lens) ceased to work, causing the lens to suddenly come loose. The TC has been in Nikon's repair facility for over 2 months, under warranty, but with no replacement offered and I have just been informed of another lengthy delay. The email that I have just received cites 'Brexit and Covid'. If the former, then it is time to repatriate the Nikon UK repair facility from the Netherlands, but for now, another reason to switch to Canon. This is pretty poor, Nikon.

I just love this tele Converter
I just love this tele Converter. The only drawback is that i may have to resort to manually focus, using some lenses. In fact, with an f/4 lens, it becomes very difficult using Automatic Focus( with the Tele Converter Mounted), unless You are using a Professional Camera. The quality of the pictures is superb. This is far better than previous release II and all defects have been solved. Enjoy it :-)

First let me say that I'm a novice at photography. About the only thing I don't photograph is people. Lately I have enjoyed photographing birds and that is why I purchased the Nikon TC-20E III 2x Teleconverter. Previously I had been using my Nikon D7000 and Nikon 300mm f/4.0 lens coupled with the Nikon TC-14E II teleconverter which was giving me good results but wanted a little more reach if possible. This converter so far has passed my expectations. I am aware that Nikon claims that the TC-20E III 2x teleconverter will not auto focus with the 300mm f/4.0 lens or the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens for that matter, but in the couple of days I've had it, it has been autofocusing really well. Right after the sun set this evening I attempted to photograph a red finch about 50 yards away and had to manual focus, but had been shooting that distance all day with auto focus and while viewing only with maximum zoom on my LCD screen the results have been looking well. This week I will catalog and review my photos in Lightroom. Also I plan on taking the trip into the forest or one of the lakes to see if I can capture a bald eagle. If I experience problems in the future I will update this review. But at the present the TC-20E III 2x Teleconverter will remain attached to my 300mm f/4.0 lens as did the TC-14E II previously. On another note it works quit well with my Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens, but since I have the Nikon TC-14E II teleconverter it will probably remain a part of my micro lens.

Lo uso con un Lente AF-S 200-500 mm f/5.6 ED VR y el Adaptador FTZ en una Nikon Z6 y el resultado ha sido mejor de lo que esperaba
