Buy this not a Fox Alien rubber Band CNC
I LOVE THIS MACHINE! This is the best machine for the money on the market period. Here is my story. First I bought the Fox Alien rubber band CNC which was a huge mistake. I was busy with other things so it sat there unused until I got to it. I found out the motherboard was bad, they replaced it and quickly, they even gave me their new 1/4" bit set as a sorry for the issue, which was nice. Then I tried to cut 1/8" cast acrylic plastic and it would not cut it! I added 5 passes to cut 1/8" plastic, and it still would not cut it. Meanwhile I am emailing them asking how to fix this. Their rubber bands would skip and destroy every cut I tried to make.I finally gave up and they would NOT give me my money back on their product. So I bought the Genmitsu 4040 Pro for less money. No rubber bands, just solid metal screw drive. Same exact stepper motors and this thing is a beast. I surfaced my cutting board since the Fox Alien destroyed it. It cut is so smooth it is like a mirror finish. I love this machine. It will cut and it is so accurate, I love this machine. Yes it is not as fast as the Fox Alien, but who cares, it actually works, it cuts and anything. If it fits into the machine it will cut it. Obviously you have to work within limits but this is a beast of a machine. I love it period. Yes I relocated the power to underneath it so I did not break it off, not sure why they have it sticking out the side, but who cares. This thing works so good, get one you will be happy you did.

For not having any experience, It was extremely easy to assemble.
I’m a self tough diy woodworker and decided to get into the CNC game. I was debating between two brand. I went with the Genmitsu 4040-Pro cause of the rail system it has. I figure with all the saw dust that a router produces. A good strong rail system is needed vs rollers like the other one has.And to tell you the truth I’m not disappointed, I’m very happy with my purchase and the price is just right for my first CNC. This machine is beautiful and well built, very sturdy and is extremely easy to assemble for my first time. Less than 30 min with the easy to read manual but if needed Sainsmart has an instruction video that’s easy to follow along. I decided to go with the easel software which I’m still learning. Nowthe only thing I recommend is to put a support peace under the spoil board maybe plane a peace of 3/4 plywood just enough to slide it under it that would help any future sagging. Im planning to just take off the spoil board and just go the other route mounting it on a flat surface, like a double layer mdf. Other than that Is a good looking machine. Im excited to start learning. So go for it you will enjoy it.

Lead Screw Backlash
The unit is great. It was easy to assemble and there are a ton of YouTube videos to help with bringing it online. I intend to carve mostly hardwoods like Maple, Cherry and Walnut. It does a good job using a V bit but the excessive chatter with a 1/4" or 1/8" end mill bit makes a mess of the project when carving pockets or profiles. The unit I have had too much play in the X and Y axis simply due to the play in the spring loaded nuts that are driven by the lead screws. I was able to eliminate that chatter by disassembling the nuts, tapping some existing holes in the floating side to add set screws. This allowed me to carefully tighten the set screw until the backlash was gone but the lead screw could still operate freely. Added some loctite to prevent the set screws from loosening over time.Unfortunately, the spindle motor assembly that was supplied as well as the upgrade spindle with higher rpm also flex too much and the chatter is still unacceptable. The next modification will be to upgrade the spindle motor to a trim router to see if I get the chatter to stop.I'm overall very happy with the unit but I want to improve the performance. For the beginner, Easel Inventables software works great and is easy to use. The first 30 days is free but after that a subscription is required.

This is fantastic device at price
The media could not be loaded. I purchased originally 3018 pro but one bearing came out completely from wherever it was seated and returned it. I purchased this one and what a difference! Everything fits, frame is rigid and everything worked out of box in Easel on my 2011 iMac. I had two minor issues at the beginning. After first homing base board was squirted along X and Y axis with most likely oil from bearings. It's a cosmetic issue - but you want get second board and they are not cheap. Second issue - one of bolts completely unscrewed during job, and spindle started to twist in the slot. I caught it early, tightened bolts and no problem since them. One downside of this machine is relatively weak spindle. It will cut through plywood and engrave details that will blow your mind. Unfortunately if your planning to do anything with real wood - better plan for router upgrade. And this is also not cheap. After 3018 fiasko i was considering 4030 proverxl v2 - but it's not worth paying 2.5x for it - especially that you still need to upgrade to real router for proper wood work.

Junk!
I have had a BobsE4 for about seven years now and this machine moves four times slower than it does for no reason at all. Customer support says the machine is fine so if you like a project taking 11 hours instead of 1 1/2 then this is your machine! I am very disappointed in this, it looks great and is made very well but it's very slow and then Candle software is very problematic. This machine is like buying the nice shiny sports car and finding out it has Yugo engine in it!
