Review: Beautiful art book for Dragon Age connoisseurs. - Fantastic art book. Each of the pages goes into great visual detail on how the world and characters in Inquisition were created. Art design is intricate and the book itself is of a high quality like all other Dark Horse hardbacks are. Something to treasure, as well as excellent reference material. I would also recommend "Dragon Age: The World of Thedas vol. 1" The second volume of which is scheduled to come out next year. (also published by Dark Horse) Review: One of the Best 'Art of' Books I've ever Bought - I have a lot of Game Art (and film!) Books, I study Game Design myself and hope to get into the industry in future so I absolutely love collecting these kind of things. And with that said I can honestly say this is one of the best 'Art of' books I've ever bought. It's a huge book, honestly it's larger than A4. It has a tonne of work inside of great quality- designs of every environment and main character and delves into in-game cultural aesthetics. And for the price of £20 and hardback at that this is an absolute steal. If you have a love for the Art & Design behind Game/Film or just an interest in the Art Design behind a series you enjoy, this is definitely worth a purchase!

A great art of book
A great art of book. I own a lot of these kinds of books as someone who works in the industry and I have to say I really admire how much of the design process made its way into this book. It's not just pretty in-game shots and finished concepts but shows off the iterative processes that go into making video games. A must for any fantasy fan!

Fantastic!
Amazing Book! Love the environments and locations art so beautiful The buildings and monuments art is also beautiful Getting to see all the different ideas and variations of the character designs, and seeing how each one gradually evolved to the final design is just awesome, and even seeing the huge amount of different armour possibilities was very interesting. If you're big on the art and huge fan of Bioware games such as this, Mass Effect etc... I highly recommend getting this to add to you're collection. Truly a work of art.

Packed With Art!
A large, bulky book packed with a ton of artwork, ranging from everything within the game. Definitely worth it, and if you love concept art and illustrations and all the art that created the game, then a worthy piece to the collection.

It's a good book to have if you are curious about the process of designing characters and environments. It's also a nice item to have if you are a fan of the Dragon Age series or if you are looking into studying the creative process of video games.

The Art of Dragon Age: Inquisition is a large hardcover artbook that's much thicker than I expected. Although it's listed at 184 pages on Amazon and publisher Dark Horse's website, the book's actually 264 pages. That's an additional 80 pages! Collected within is a huge amount of beautiful concept art created for the game. There are designs for characters, props, landscapes, storyboards and some story scene paintings. More specifically, you'll see castles on hilltops, cavernous throne rooms and interiors, exquisite carvings that adorn the walls and ceilings, props such as thrones designed to reflect power of the rulers, faction banners, ancient ruins in deep jungles and other mysterious places imagined by the artists. Even the few screenshots of locations in the game looks great in terms of lighting and mood. The design is very cohesive. Character designs are mainly influenced by medieval warriors in armour. The book includes many variations of costumes and characters. I prefer the environment and prop art to the character designs although they are pretty good as well. There are some creatures and dragons but not much. The captions that come with the artworks talking about the designs are quite insightful but too brief. The style of art is mainly painterly, quite detailed at times to show off the architecture and history of the places. There are some rough pieces but for the most part they look wonderful in terms of textures, composition and invite you to marvel at the details. The recent video game artbooks published by Dark Horse are all pretty good, including this one. Considering the extra pages, amount of content and quality of the art, this is certainly fantastic artbook for fans of the game and fantasy art. Good value for money.
