Roberts PLAY10 FM/DAB/DAB+ Digital Portable Radio, White

A very simple stylish radio bought for my mum, aged 88, who needed something simple to operate. This radio is perfect for her. Three DAB presets is enough for her three favourite stations. I'm very happy with this. Price is fair and realistic.

Lovely little radio with clarity in sound quality. It's very useful for taking around the house as it's perfect size makes it very portable

Good little radio. A few points that occur to me initially. The hand strap (flexible rubber) is a good idea but it could be a little bit longer - I have quite small hands but it won't go over them without a struggle. The radio runs off DC 5V so it should be easy to knock up a cable (centre pin +ve) to power it from a USB source which could be handy. For me however, the fact that it also can run off 4 x AA batteries is a real plus as I can use rechargeables in it. Quite a lot of the small DAB/FM radios on Amazon have their own internal rechargeable batteries which I am never keen on as they may be difficult to replace when they get worn out. The volume control is nice and sensitive so it is possible to use it in a quiet environment at low levels without disturbing other people (ie a sleeping partner !). I have read reviews of other radios where the minimum volume is quite loud. I cannot comment authoritatively on how sensitive the reception is. I am using it at my mother's house in Henley on Thames which is not a good area for FM reception let alone DAB. As I suspected, it works outdoors OK but indoors DAB is not available and FM is so-so but tolerable - I guess the sensitivity is average and to be honest for a budget radio like this I was not expecting too much. The stated aim of switching off FM transmission completely at some point in the future is barking - in my opinion ;) Sound quality is better than would be expected for it's size and weight. So, overall I am happy with the purchase and am confident that for me at least, at this price point it is the best option on Amazon at the moment for performance, value, features & design. Just a quick update after a week of use - the sound quality is most definitely better than could be expected. Of course it is not hifi and it is not particularly loud but at moderate volumes it is virtually free of distortion and has a nice engaging sound. It is a lot more sensitive than another DAB radio I have tried and can pick up stations indoors in Liverpool even without the aerial extended ! This could be par for the course for most DAB radios now. I am not sure because it is several years since I tried one here - the one I used was also a premium brand (Pure) which I now keep it on my boat but this Roberts radio would beat it hands down.

Very pleased with the quality and reliability of this radio. The sound is excellent in both treble and bass frequencies, and station tuning and storage is straight forward, as described in the instruction manual. I've only ever used this in mains-powered mode, so cannot comment on battery life. Yes, there are cheaper FM/DAB/ DAB+ radios out there, but Roberts quality and reliability is what you're paying that little bit extra for. Highly recommended.

This is a superb little radio. Easy to set up. Easy to tune. The appearance makes it easy to view the station info. good quality of sound. Really happy with it.

Very smart little radio with good sound

Fantasic can now get every dab station including GHR 60s...70s and 80s .

The Radio is very easy to set up and the large Tuning dial displays most of the Digital channels you could wish for. Sound quality is very good for its size. Unfortunately, just after the return window has been shut [ie I have had the radio a month ] I am getting a very intermittent display and sound dips and switches the radio off. Signal is very good here and I've tried both battery and mains connections and re setting the radio. It works for about half hour then the display starts flickering and sound disappears again. The photo shows the flickering display illuminated but no radio station shows. Very disappointed.

Adaptateur pour l Angleterr et pas pour la Belgique 🇧🇪

The look is fine but it has not very good reception. Edited & added: the sound is mono! Terrible!
