Super Pleased with This Machine!
Outstanding machine. I had the old (original) machine and it worked well for 16 years. It finally died, so we rented the new one and it worked even better that the original machine, so we bought one. It pulls more of the water out than the old one did. It cleans better. And the handle is higher, making it easier on the back. Easier to fill and empty also. Strongly recommend this machine!

Dissatisfaction...to amazement
First off, we have tried every consumer brand of home carpet cleaner and haven't really been satisfied. This model was chosen first due to it being a commercial style machine with a high rating. Our first impression was disappointment, the pump wouldn't pump and the 800 help line wasn't any help. They basically just read the troubleshooting section of the owners manual. 1 quick online search and I found that some new machines get air locked and will not allow cleaning solution into the small inlet hole (blue arrow). Two seconds w/ the activation handle pulled and a toothpick inserted into hole fixed the not priming issue. WoW! This thing extracts water and dirt like no machine I've used before. A week after a 'professional national carpet cleaning company' charged me $400, this red machine pulled stains and dirt left behind. Worth every penny, IMO.

Don't buy this thing.
I have rented these Rug Dr. units forever and have owned light duty home units that seem to work for 10 or so uses. Thought I would love a commercial unit at home. It came looking almost as if it had been used. Fluid in tank and some dirt, but I forged ahead. Filled tank, plugged in and everything seemed to work except no fluid came out. Looked at troubleshooting guide and mostly it dealt with dirt from use or they thought their customers were morons... (plugged in? Pushing button? etc.) Called customer service, not open on the weekends. Looked at YouTube and got advice on priming the pump. On 4th try, that worked but I was over two hours working on this and we are getting ready for a wedding and didn't have time to waste. Rug Doctor, spend the extra 35 cents with your Chinese motor maker and buy the self-priming pump! Did two rooms and on the third, the beater bar quit running. Thought it was the belt or something keeping the bar from rotating. Nope, motor for beater bar seems to be inoperative. Two problems on first use with what is supposed to be a Commerical quality machine is two problems too many. I will rent from now on or hire a carpet cleaner. I think it looks to be heavy and looks to be Commercial quality but I think it is a cheaply-made imitation. Extremely disappointed and I buy a lot of things from Amazon and have returned hardly any. Maybe Amazon ought to not sell this particular product or anything from Rug Doctor.

Our very own Rug Doctor! YES!
Ok hear me out! We grew tired of renting one of these from the store, usually not checked or cleaned before I used them which eats into my time. Which causes me to pay additional time. I complain but they don’t care. So as this was my second time, I don't have the patience anymore so we purchased for our own use and it sure beats any rug cleaner in retail store hands down. I have pets so this was a better buy our dollars. If you see the upholstery attachment get it! Just get it! It is worth it. If you kids and pets, this is the best. I love the two tank system, I love the fold down handle to store away. Very easy to use. I hope you get it and enjoy it as we have! It is worth it. <—i said this twice. I meant that $\it.

Simple to use and VERY effective!
Simple to use and VERY effective! Though my carpets are 25yrs old, they look no more than five. Also, because it's so effective, I can allow my dog to stay indoors longer because I don't fear carpet damage as much.

Rug Doctor Pro for the Win!
I own rental property and was quoted $250 to deep clean by a professional van based type of cleaner. I couldn’t get a guarantee that all the stains would come up so I put that $250 into this rug doctor Pro and hoped for the best, and if it didn’t pull it off I’d have a good cleaner for my house at least. It did a pretty solid job. All that’s left is some minor marks and carpet lightening in the high traffic areas, but the house is rentable without having to install new carpets! First 3 pictures are before, last there are the same rooms after. The very last picture shows the difference in what one pass with this thing did on the filthy carpet. Look at the difference between that row and the rest of what I was about to tackle. I only gave it less than 5 stars for ease of use because it is big and you will get a workout if you do the whole house.

Rug Doctor In Name Only.
I owned a Rug Doctor Mighty Pro for nearly 15 years, but due to the lack of available replacement parts, I was forced to retire it. In searching for a replacement, I came across the Rug Doctor Pro Deep Clean, marketed as a commercial-grade unit. Based on relatively favorable reviews, I decided to purchase it, believing it to be an upgrade from my previous machine. Unfortunately, when the unit arrived, the clean water/solution would not dispense. I contacted Rug Doctor customer support, and while the representative attempted to troubleshoot the issue, they were ultimately unable to resolve it. I was advised to contact Amazon for a replacement. On a positive note, Amazon handled the return seamlessly—the process was quick and efficient. Once I dropped off the defective unit at a UPS Store (note: you’ll need to find your own box if you discarded the original), the replacement arrived in about three days. It’s worth mentioning that Rug Doctor was acquired by Bissell in 2022, and this model reflects a noticeable departure from the traditional Rug Doctor design. Instead of the familiar high-frequency vibrating brush, this unit features a rotating brush roll similar to that of a vacuum cleaner. While this may be suitable for light carpet cleaning, it lacks the aggressive scrubbing capability needed for heavily soiled areas. Unlike the original Rug Doctor (where scrubbing and extraction occurred in the backward motion only) this model allows for solution application and scrubbing in both forward and backward directions. The instructions recommend applying solution on both the forward and backward passes (two passes total), followed by two additional dry passes for extraction. In contrast, the traditional model achieves similar results in just two reverse passes. This design requires double solution and effort for the same result with the traditional Rug Doctor design. An improvement would be to retain the rotating brush while incorporating small horizontal spinning brushes to better agitate the carpet fibers. This unit clearly reflects more Bissell influence in its engineering, which may disappoint longtime Rug Doctor users expecting the brand’s legacy features. That said, I’m not dissatisfied with the unit, I feel I fell prey to savvy marketing by attributing it to a commercial unit. I feel that the x3 or Mighty Pro x3 will do a better job and for a fraction of the cost. This unit does a solid job extracting dirty water, and I can visibly see the dirt it removes when emptying the tank. With our children grown and only a five-month-old puppy at home, we don’t anticipate many deeply soiled areas requiring heavy-duty cleaning. For light to moderate carpet soil, this unit performs adequately. For better results in high-traffic areas, I recommend pre-treating with solution using a hand pump sprayer to help break down stubborn soil. In terms of pricing, I find the unit to be on the higher end relative to its capabilities. It is well-built, but it does not include a hand tool which can be purchased separately. I opted to buy the motorized hand tool. Again, the brush speed could be faster. Ergonomically, it is clumsy in the hand and requires a two-handed control for effective cleaning.
