Easy to fit into busy lifestyles
This was my first foray into Pilates and I am enjoying it so far. The instructor is lovely, giving very clear instructions and unlike some DVDs I've used she isn't over the top enthusiastic but is gently encouraging. The pace is quite brisk by virtue of the style/format of this brand or workout DVD but I like that, of there's a part of the routine you struggle with or don't like at least you know you'll soon move on to the next bit! I find these DVDs fit into my day brilliantly, I rarely would have time to do a whole 45min workout but can usually squeeze in either a 10 or 20min / 1 or 2 sections of these most days. I've bought several of these brand and am always impressed, plenty of variety available to keep things fresh and to switch up your focus.

Great, but not for total beginners
This is a great DVD with clear instructions and a broad range of exercises. I like the fact that it groups the exercises into focus areas of the body (legs and bum, torso, arms and upper body etc), spending 10 minutes on each. It is really flexible in that you can create your own programme by selecting these and therefore how much time you spend on exercising, or you can do the whole lot in 50 minutes. I have done pilates classes before, although not for a while and I did not advance very far, so I would say I am a beginner. The exercises are fairly demanding, which is good as they challenge you and I am certain that I will see the benefits if I continue using it. However, I would say that a total beginner to pilates would find the DVD very difficult as the exercises progress very rapidly in each section and if you don't know the fundamentals of pilates - breathing, engaging core strength, neutral spine etc, then you would get very lost. The DVD could do with a more in-depth introductory section and perhaps a slower set of basic exercises for the absolute beginner. This is why I have given it four stars and not five. Otherwise it is a really good and I am very happy with it.

Beginner but not novice :-)
User friendly format. The 10 minute sessions are a great idea and having received the DVD only today in the post I've been able to plan my day working from home with pilates breaks throughout.HOWEVER- I am re-engaging with pilates after a few years off due to ill health having previously attended 3 times weekly for years. The level of instruction here assumes that the participant knows about pilates posture terms and positions. Using terms such as table top, s bend in spine, inprinting, zip and tuck- these pilates foundations are very important and are not covered here. You also move from one exercise to another quickly which would be tricky without some pilates experience. But I guess you don't know what you don't know- so I would encourage a COMPLETE novice to explore alternatives. I have an understanding of these terms and got cracking today. The workouts were quite tough going but I enjoyed them all the same.

Brilliant DVD/!!!!!
I have been practicing Pilate's for about 4 years now & my teacher had to drop one of her classes which meant I was only going to have a session once a week, I decided to purchase a DVD to replace my class, read the reviews on this one & decided to go for it! I am glad I did! Although it is aimed at beginners it does give you a tough workout, I do feel that the stretching at the end was a bit limited as you DO work the muscles well & its important to stretch well so you don't end up in discomfort, which could potentially put you off the workout. However, I incorporated a few more stretches of my own & found that I am OK! The DVD has 10 minute sections so you can do as little or as much as you want to, I really liked this idea as I can make the workout personal to me, instead of using this DVD once a week as was my intention, I am using it twice a week! In respect, based on Pilate's class prices I got 'my money back' after the first workout! Would I recommend this DVD? Oh yes!!!! Am looking forward to being lean & toned for this Summer!!! Just remember those stretches! :)_

Great for beginners
This was my first introduction to Pilates, although I've done yoga before. I therefore have no class instructors to compare it to, but I found the presentation was clear and I haven't experienced any problems with injuries. The DVD is split into 5 sections - 'core' (abs and stomach), arms, legs, total body combo and stretching. You can do one or combine them into a customised workout with the DVD feature which is great. I found all of them quite intensive for a beginner but still doable (I had a reasonable level of fitness before starting). There are adaptations you can do as you get stronger so it's a beginners DVD with a long shelf life.I found instructions on breathing and technique generally great, on a few of the exercises it wasn't clear exactly when to breathe but I think I've worked it out now. The instructor prompts on common mistakes people make which is really helpful. It doesn't require any extra equipment but I use a mat as I've got a hardwood floor - you would probably be fine without one on carpet.Overall a highly recommended exercise DVD. Really good value for money.

Brilliant!
After a year of living with serious back pain and no doctor to help I thought I will help myself. I have researched what is good for back as well as for the rest of the body and found pilates as a good form of exercise. After researching the DVD selection I found this series and really liked the idea of 10 min for each body part. This dvd might not be the easiest to start with but I found it very very good. I also ordered the 10 min Solution Rapid Results and just love to combine the two DVDs. The only thing you will need is a good mat and some light weights (only for Rapid R. DVD). I can recommend it to anyone with back pain (of course be careful) or for ppl sitting behind a desk whole day or just anyone wants to feel good - You will not regret it!
