However, I have now watched the first 5 movies, up to and including You Only Live Twice, and so can at least comment on all of Connery's initial outings before his one film break when George Lazenby took the reins for OHMSS. The picture quality is superb and Bond has never looked better on the small (well, 42 inch) screen. Very punchy (the picture as well as Bond!) without much in the way of noise reduction "grain". A good number of extras with some interesting documentaries, though there is some padding in the guise of features on gadgets, villains, Bond Girls etc, which are merely clips from the movies edited together, with no overdubbed commentary. I've stopped watching them as, having just watched each movie I have no need to see the clips immediately after. I like the presentation of the box set, with the discs held in high quality hardback books, but I feel it would have been enhanced with even a few notes in the pages between discs, rather than the photo montages. Yes, they provide a nice reminder of the content of each film, but a synopsis and/ot trivia for each film would have been more welcome. However, I can live with that minor gripe and there are plenty of books I could buy if I wanted to read more. As I already had the DVD set in the tin box, I had held off till this came up on a Black Friday deal and I haven't been disappointed. I now just need to add Skyfall to complete the set. Well worth the upgrade from DVD. Review: Bond 50 - DVD Review - I noticed that there aren't many reviews for the DVD version of this product on this page; many of the reviews are actually for the BluRay version, and while the two appear similar, they are actually totally different products. This box set contains all 22 currently available James Bond films that have been made by Eon (so this doesn't include Sean Connery's 'Never Say Never Again', but most fans don't consider that to be part of the main series. Each film is presented on a different disk, all of which are contained in a neat box that will fit neatly on your DVD shelf. The DVDs are contained in digipaks, each of which holds two discs, and while this isn't necessarily the safest way to present disks, it seems a lot more robust than the BluRay equivalent (of which there have been complaints about). Unlike the more expensive BluRay edition, the DVD edition comes with no special features of which to speak. While this initially bothered me (I'm a bit of a special-features geek), I was not willing to part with an extra forty pounds just for a lot of special features. Saying that, the DVD edition does feel a little bit lacking. The quality of the films is very much as you'd expect, considering the ages of some of them. The display packaging itself is particularly nice. The grey bars that appear on the top and bottom of the product image are actually part of a cardboard backing, and is only really for sale use. When you remove the film wrapping, this simply falls away, leaving you with a much cleaner-looking and well presented box set. The inside cover contains black and white photographs of every Bond. In addition, the boxset contains a space for Skyfall on DVD, when it is released early next year. While this is an odd choice, it does avoid the usual feeling of being sold a boxset just before it becomes obsolete, because its no longer the "complete" series. All in all, an excellent boxset if all you're after are the films that have formed the backbone of the 007 franchise for the last 50 years. If you want anything extra, then you'll need to look to the BluRay edition... Also, it should be mentioned that I already owned many of the films on DVD (8 in total), but this turned out to be the cheapest way to complete my set. When some of the individual films are selling for as much as £15 each, £50 for 22 films isn't such a bad price!

Well shaken and stirred...done with every inch the dapper and panache of Bond
Bond 50 becomes the finest bind to enthuse its audience, owing much to keen devotion and adherence with no expense spared. Indeed the restoration of every film is as scrupulous as can ever be had within the purview of source material, the final product of which speaks volumes. Each disc comes with bonus features within containing 007 footage spanning the most successful 50 year franchise of any film genre, and one to certainly echo an eternity for generations. The remarkable enhancements born of technological advance exudes a level of detail never before enjoyed, the pristine quality befitting of every film, each captioned in its original aspect ratio utilising MPEG-4 AVC video encoding likened to its audio overhaul of 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. I must own to have been enamoured by the exhibit which comes bound into two glossy hardback volumes, 1962-1981 and 1983-2012, environing the entire breadth of the collection. Each book has six hardback pages approximately 2mm thick storing two films flush into inbuilt sleeves with apposite bond girl illustrations juxtaposed and opposite to scenes of appurtenance. Forethought has been at the centre of its finesse from the outset given the last page of volume 2 is designed with one sleeve reserved for the 2013 Bond film, Skyfall, and the other containing an all new bonus features disc. Never have the bond films looked so visually sharp and crystal since their DVD adaptation, that now Bluray's 1080p presentation brings on a whole new spectrum of visual entertainment. You cannot but admire how much labour has gone into its digital cleansing with no remnant speck, line or jitter to behold. This product does all its artificers proud with the equal measure it brings its lauders satisfaction.

Bond, as you've never seen him before!
Being a lifelong Bond fan, I haven't been this excited about a movie release for years and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this 50th anniversary box set. I have all the Bonds on DVD, and I have to say that these discs do not disappoint. If you think that you have seen all of the Bond films before, then think again because the quality of the Lowry video transfer is absolutely staggering, I can't believe that the earliest film, Dr. No, is now 50 years old. The detail has to be seen to be believed, and helps to provide a totally immersive viewing experience. For example, in one of the scenes in Dr. No's cave there is an open book and you almost feel as if you pick up the book and read it. I have watched the first few discs and they are all excellent. It really is like watching all the movies for the first time again, there is so much more to see. You could be forgiven for thinking that these are modern "period" movies, the quality is that good. The only gripe so far is a rather annoying lip sync problem on Dr. No which tends to come and go, although otherwise the DTS audio is incredibly crisp and fresh considering the vintage. Haven't noticed any audio problems with the other discs yet. Each disc has a comprehensive selection of extra features, although if you are already familiar with the Ultimate DVD and Bluray editions then there is probably nothing new here. Having said that, the extras are essential viewing for Bond fans and provide further insight into the stories and characters behind each film. I like the presentation - two rigid cardboard books with each disc nicely presented by a different Bond girl, and a space to for the forthcoming Skyfall film. Highly recommended, and the price is an absolute steal.

Excellent
I've noticed the price of this product fluctuates (or was) between £88 and £99 here on Amazon - I managed to get it while it was at £88, which when you think of it means each disc is only £4, so while it may seem a lot of money of to pay out in one go, is excellent value for a Blu-Ray disc. Please note that I am not commenting on the actual content/story/plot of the individual films in this review. The quality of the box/packing is very good, and even has an empty slot for you to stick in the disc of the Skyfall film (this box set was released some months before the DVD/Blu-Ray release of Skyfall), if you wish to do so. The quality of films themselves are good, and especially noticeable on the older films (which have been "restored") which are sharp and to be honest, probably have a better "look" in some ways as they were shot on film and not digitally. The shape of the box is unusual and does mean it won't fit in easily/neatly with your other DVDs/Blu-Ray disc boxes on a shelf. Sound on the older films is also "good", but don't expect it to sound as good (or as "impressive") as films from around the 90s onwards on surround sound systems. There's not much that could be done about this as it's a restriction caused by the (lack of?) technology used to record sound back in the day, so it would be unfair to mark it down on this. Over all, I would say that if you are a Bond fan, this box set is a must. I do not have any of the films on DVD, so I cannot compare the quality (it has been said that upscaling technology does do a pretty good job with DVDs), but I would guess that you will notice a difference between an un-restored early film on DVD to the ones in this box set.

Bond 50. A question of Consistency
I have already got the single editions of the Bond films that have already been released on blu-ray (as i am sure the majority of customers purchasing this set have too) but I did not think twice about purchasing this superb collection. This Limited Edition set is presented in a fashion that celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the longest film franchise in style. The twenty three disc collection (twenty two films & one bonus disc) is split into two books (1962-1981 & 1983-2012) with a space reserved for the twenty third instalment, Skyfall. The books are designed with two discs on the right hand side, each one presented in the same way with images of the corresponding films on the left hand side. The reason I have given the collection four out of five stars is due to a slight flaw in the consistency of the "main menu" feature. Twenty one of the films all have the same design, which adds to the feel of this being a Limited Edition, special collection. For whatever reason, the final film in the collection, Quantum of Solace, does not have the same set up. Although the design of the disc itself is consistent with the rest of the set, the "main feature" menu is the same as the original release. It is also disappointing to see that the original trailer for Valkyrie is also featured on this disc, with none of the other films carrying any trailers whatsoever. This may be seen as being a bit to picky on my part but I dont understand why you would go to the trouble of producing a unique main menu for twenty one films and not include it in the last one. As I have mentioned, there is a space reserved for when Skyfall is released. I hope that the distributors have the sense to release a disc that is designed to be included in Bond 50 but I am not holding my breath on it having the same "main menu" feature. James Bond will return but in the case of Bond 50, lets hope it will be as consistent as the superb films themselves.

Amazing, this set does Bond justice
First things first, ignore the 1 and 2 star ratings. They are being picky, and many reviewers like myself don't agree with them at all. They don't seem to focus on the movies, just the packaging. Right, onto the review. I'll start with the packaging of the movies. There is an outer case, of which is displayed above. 6 Bonds all posing around a letter and number. You will also know that the set is rated 15 purely on 1 movie, which is License to Kill. Inside the outer shell are 2 good quality book-styled storage cases. Opening each page of each book there are 2 movie disks which slide in and out with ease. Each page contains pictures of the movies that are on the opposite page. And with each disk has a picture of each Bond girl to the side. All done extremely well, good glossed cardboard packaging. This isn't cheap made like many other sets are, i'm still getting over how well done the set is. Each of the movies on each disk contain the movie and special features. I won't go into what is on each disk as other reviewers have done this already. So far, i've watched Dr No like others have. For a movie which is 50 years old, MGM/Sony have done a fantastic job on remastering the picture and audio. And when i say fantastic, i mean fantastic. They've gone frame by frame clearing all the fuzz off. You can see each line clearly, how the blood looks like paint. Heck, i believe you can even see the material join lines. MGM/Sony have justified 50 years of Bond and this set, along with the quality of the picture and sound is most pleasing.

Great Value (Rating based on price and number of films)
Okay, how do I review a product that is not out yet? [Edit: I guess this is mainly based on my experience with the Bond DVD/Blu-ray releases that I have purchased in the past. - so, strictly speaking this is not a review, but a educated preview "guess"] Well, I could say that, Yes there is no Casino Royale (David Niven) or Never Say Never Again (Sean Connery) in this box set. But seeing as the earlier version of Casino Royale was not made by EON, (and in some way is a farce of a film in many ways) that was never going to be included. (Also the rights issue - MGM might not own those disc rights) And with Never Say Never Again - as EON themselves might say "We don't mention that" And therefore both of these films will never (say never again?) be part of any EON/MGM set (Though I believe MGM did release Never Say Never Again as a DVD many years ago in a similar cover to the Bond DVD's) I would not be surprised to see those films get separate releases on Blu-ray in the near future though. Currently the price quoted on here (£89.99) is much better than the USA price for the same box set ($199.99) and hopefully this price will remain this low. If you are going to pre-order this, the Amazon Price promise works, so rest assured you will not pay more than the price you are quoted on ordering this large box set. In fact, you might be lucky and see the price drop and you only pay the lowest price on Amazon up till release date. (I have had a few refunds from this promise in the past when the price dropped on the release date, even though my order was shipped to arrive with me by then) Anyway, that is enough of the boring stuff. This should be an excellent box set, full of extras where you may find yourself watching them more than the films. If the previous releases of DVD/Blu-ray have been anything to go by, EON and MGM really push the boat out on this series of films. I am really looking forward to getting this later this year

Sorprendente

gr8 collection ever made to 2k transfer
The biggest and best way to celebrate James Bond is here with the Bond 50 Blu-Ray box set, a must buy package that contains all 22 Bond films. With the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, just around the corner, there is no better time than now to invest in this fabulous box set. Bond, James Bond is an icon, a Hollywood legend and a hero to many. He’s one of cinema’s longest running franchises and deservedly so. Over five decades and now 23 films, the super spy has brought us adventure after adventure and rarely, if ever, does he let fans down. James Bond is one of cinema’s most beloved and enduring characters and it’s about time he gets his own boxset. From Dr. No right through to Quantum of Solace, every Bond film is included here, as are all of our favorite stunts, Bond girls, gadgets, cars, opening credit songs and more. The only thing missing is the 1967 Casino Royale parody and 1983′s Never Say Never Again, as both were made without EON Productions’ involvement and due to rights issues, they couldn’t be included. Having all the Bond films housed in one boxset really makes for a great viewing experience and though some films stand out more so than others (Goldfinger being one of the best Bond films ever and Moonraker being a bit too silly), every film is an absolute blast to watch. It would be redundant and rather pointless at this stage to review each of the 22 films in this box set. If you’re reading this review, you’ve likely seen most of the Bond films, if not all. So, instead of doing into depth on each one, I’ll just provide a brief overview of the box set, run down the audio, video and special features, and try to drill into your head why you NEED to buy Bond 50. Housed in a slipcover box you’ll find two books that when opened, hold the discs (two per page). The discs are arranged in chronological order and the pages of the book have images from the films. There’s even an extra spot for Skyfall. It’s an excellent piece of packaging and one that complements the classy style of the titular character himself. When it comes to the video and audio, this box set is an absolute winner. Even the older films, like Dr. No and From Russia With Love, look gorgeous (despite some dust specks and whatnot). Crystal clear and free of compression issues, this is the way that the James Bond films were meant to be viewed. The films that have already seen a Blu-Ray release are identical to their previous versions and the ones that are appearing on Blu-Ray for the first time are very easy on the eyes. Of all the films, Goldeneye is the only one with any real noticeable issues. That’s not to say that it doesn’t look great, it does, it’s just not as sharp as the rest of the film. Of course, the newer films look better than the older ones but given the circumstances, each title looks nearly flawless. Audio is equally as good. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtracks pack quite a punch. Now, a lot of the films were produced before the 5.1 era and in that case, they include the original mono and stereo mixes. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note. Dialogue is crisp and clean on the newer releases and even on the older ones it’s solid, though there is a bit of crackle and pop here and there. Add in great atmospherics and a ton of depth and you have some really good audio tracks. Now, if you already own the Bond films on Blu-Ray (13 were made available in the past with the other 9 now on store shelves), you will be double dipping here. The discs hold the same special features as the original releases did, save for a few extra bits here and there. That being said, there is a bonus disc included in the set that houses a handful of new special features. You can check them out below, though nothing particularly stands out. World of Bond: Title Sequences: All the title sequences in a row, amounts to a little over an hour. World of Bond: Gadgets: A quick montage of some of Bond’s best gadgets. World of Bond: Villains: Another quick montages dedicated to the villains. World of Bond: Bond Girls: A montage focusing on the Bond girls. World of Bond: Locations: A quick look at some of the more exotic locations that the series has visited. World of Bond: Bond in Motion: A very quick look at some of Bond’s best vehicles. Skyfall Videoblogs: About ten minutes of promo material for Skyfall Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style: For about four minutes we get a look at the series from a design point of view, everything from costumes to props is touched upon. Being Bond (1080p, 3:08): For a couple minutes each of the Bond actors speak on their experience playing the character. Unless you already own a handful of the Bond films Blu-Ray, you can’t go wrong Bond 50. The new special features don’t amount to much more than fluff but considering each film has its own features ported over from the original release, it’s easy to overlook the fact that the new features are useless. That minor hiccup aside, everything else about the set is fantastic. The films look and sound beautiful in HD, even the older titles, and they’re all just so much fun to watch. Everything about the package is just so well done, right down to the packing and housing of the film. If you’re a James Bond fan who has yet to invest in the series on Blu-Ray, this is an excellent box set that will provide you hours and hours of enjoymen

Tous en VF SAUF "Quantum of Solace"

BOND on Blu Ray - Box Itself: A+ / Bonus Disc: C- !!
50 years and this franchise is still going strong. Amazing! The box set itself is quite good and the bonus book of posters is super sweet (not sure if that's still available, but it was when I got it). I am a fan of all that great merchandising stuff. These discs are divided into two boxes and contains some nice pull-outs that tell us what movies are in each box. The downside is, it does not list what special features are on ANY of those discs, so if you're searching for something specific, you have to put the discs in just to search for that special feature. That's a pretty major blunder there. But, the real weak point in this box set is the "bonus disc." If you're a fan of this kind of stuff like me, then this review will make sense to you, but if you really just want the movies on Blu-Ray, then read no further. This box is outstanding for that alone. It even has a slot for you to place Skyfall in...kinda cool. This is why I still give it 5 stars. So, that bonus disc. It's pretty weak. But you have probably read that in several reviews already. The features are not very long and are really just a tease more than something of real substance. Remember when you got these movies in those awesome DVD box sets and the bonus discs were crazy good. Brand new docs directed by John Cork...amazing stuff, most of which has been transferred over to this collection. But for this exclusive bonus disc, there's a featurette that has ALL the bonds called "Being Bond." OK, so you have all the actors who have ever played Bond in this franchise interviewed and it's not even 8 minutes long. WHAT!? And I'm OK that some of the interview footage of the actors isn't even new...some are from many years ago. Seriously, that should have been an amazing retrospective look back to all those who brought this character to life. I still scratch my head and wonder why studios release this sort of poor stuff. Don't you think a legendary character like this deserves better? I sure do. And yet, they edit all the opening movie title sequences together in one long stringout that lasts longer than an hour! Are you seeing my point here. I'd much rather watch an hour of the actors talk about "being Bond" than sitting through all the openings. But whatever, studios are constantly doing lame things like this but at the same time package them in one sweet box set. The good certainly outweighs the bad here. Hopefully Skyfall's bonus features will pick up the slack where this one failed. That said...a bangin' box set. Get it!!
