Can anyone advise how to change lightbulb? I can't separate black base from bottle and can so no other obvious way to get to bulb. Thanks.

The glass tube should just lift out of the black base. Try a bit of wd40 to loosen it. Good luck.

My lamp is less than two weeks old and the lava is stuck in a a bubble ladder formation. how do i get it to loosen it up

Maybe try switching off and leaving to cool. Once cool give the lamp a little jiggle, not hard as to damage but enough to move the lava down. Switch on after and allow to reheat and start again

My lava lamp doesn't work. liquid stays at the bottom! Its on for between 6 to 8 hours , used every day for past 2.5 wk

Has the lamp been turned off for a while? With mine, on turn on it takes a long time for the wax to become liquid again after a lengthy period of inaction. Also, not trying to be funny....is the bulb a cool touch one (ie) low energy. If it is that would not be hot enough to make lamp work.
