A solid functional reproduction
I have a 1903 Springfield as well as a M1 Garand. As much as I would like to spend a fortune for an original bayonet I was just looking for something that could be displayed and still look decent. Decided I was going to give this bayonet a try and I'm impressed. Is it an original? No. BUT it still looks good for a fraction of the cost. It fits the 1903 very snug with no wiggle. It fits the M1 Garand as well but with a little more wiggle. Both are secure and do not come off unless you release it like normal. Blade is coated black and can be sanded off if you prefer the metal blade look. Bayonet did come sharpened and does through some soft material(plastic clothes baskets...etc). Overall good for what you get.

This item was bever quality checked .
This item was defective upon arrival . The bayonet is stuck in the scabbard . The bayonet lug hook is not connected and it's just a long cold rolled steel knife . 40 bucks was a waste on this item that was packed and shipped without checking . Package was in great shape not damaged in shipping it's just defective and Amazon doesn't have a option for thay or help contacting the seller ... additional. I had to disassemble the grip and remove internal parts. Reassemble and is now working like advertised. I am changing review to 5 star. Is solid tight piece . Will gladly use on my original springfield.

Good overall quality for an inexpensive replica.
First of all, this is a REPLICA, which is pretty clearly stated. And, it is only $27 which is much much less than the real thing, which can go for $300 or more. The Armory Replica's piece is meant to represent a Springfield 1905 16" bayonet, which was one of several bayonets used in WW2 on the M1 Garand rifle. The blade itself is good quality steel and actually comes honed to a fairly sharp edge for both a replica and a real bayonet, which were usually fairly dull. The finish is a glossy black (paint?) which looks good and is very smooth (and lightly oiled to prevent rust). A detraction is the bright white "CHINA STAINLESS" tampo printed on the side of the blade. This can be painted over with a gloss black paint marker, though. The grips are black plastic and look ok but have a cheap and thin feel. You should be able to get some better or original grips to replace these. The bayonet fits easily on my M1 Garand with no modification. The locking mechanism isnt the best, but I bought the replica for display only. The included scabbard is "fair". The originals were canvas and by WW2 pressed fiber but this one is glossy, smooth, olive colored, ABS plastic. Durable; yes. Reaistic; no. The steel top cuff has a nice Army exploding bomb emblem. I think the originals had brass fittings. I will probably try to lightly sand the ABS to cut the gloss. Not the best replica bayonet I have ever had, but not the worst. The metal is actually better than expected and really only the plastic parts are a letdown. Given that many quality replicas can be $75 or more, this one really is not bad for the money .

As good as I had hoped
I don't own a garand, so I haven't tried it for fit, but it appears to have legitimate dimensional qualities. While I have not done "laboratory tests" on it, it is indeed long and apparently of standard thickness, and it has a feel very much like authentic bayonets that I have known from the WWII era. One thing that I am always unsure about in purchasing an unfamiliar edged implement is the quality of the steel. This one said, "high carbon steel," and that seemed hopeful. My conclusion is that the steel is in fact quite satisfactory. I like the steel in a Ka-Bar knife that I recently purchased somewhat better, but that is chrome-vanadium, very tough and sharp. This one appears to be high carbon steel as stated, and it seems the right hardness for a bayonet, fairly easy to sharpen well but not seeming brittle enough to chip easily. I tested it for hardness against an inexpensive stainless steel pocket knife that I carry, and while the knife will not scratch this bayonet, the bayonet, when sharpened, can cut thin shavings off of the pocket knife. I think it will do just fine.

Not bad, cheaper price and minor flaws compared to surplus issue
Fits our M1 Garand but a little bit loose or wobbly, and the scabbard is plastic, so we returned it. It's not bad, and a whole lot less costly than surplus "real" units, so a very reasonable trade off, but not quite as good as we expected or wanted. Ours also had a little spot of rust in the handle area, surprising for a newly-made item. So, if you want a bayonet for show and don't want to spend a ton getting a surplus unit at a gun show or similar venue, this should serve, but it's not as sold or great as perhaps it should be. Not bad, mind you, but don't expect a perfect, authentic bayonet.

Cheap scabbard
Decent blade. Cheap scabbard. The scabbard broke within 1 minute of unboxing.

Very accurate replica... good value
This product fit perfectly and is an accurate reproduction of the original. It looks better than my original bayonet. It is so nice that I ordered a second unit. Price is highly competitive.

It looks good on the end of my Garand
This bayonet snapped onto the mount of my M1 rifle without any trouble at all. It fits as securely as my surplus USGI M4, M6, and M7 fit on my M1 Carbine, Polytech M14 clone, and AR15, respectively. It isn't proper carbon steel but I don't plan to use it for its designed purpose. It's just there to look good and I didn't have to pay the stupid money an uncut USGI M1905 bayonet commands. Besides, if I were to somehow (?) end up using it to defend myself, I doubt the bad guy is going to laugh at it because it is likely to break off in his rib cage or pelvis. As far as the reviews mentioning fitment problems, it is possible that rifles made by contract manufacturers (Winchester, International Harvester, Harrington & Richardson) or those with aftermarket gas tubes might have bayonet lugs that are slightly out of specification and were never fixed by armorers. My rifle is from 1942 production at Springfield Armory.
