Singing from the heart
Every so often you get a story that really resonates with you, 'Anthem of the heart' is one of them. It's the story of a girl who has lost her voice but desperately wants to get her feelings across, pure and simple, The film is about words and how they effect those around you, from being hurtful to bringing joy.Now the most important question:Does this induce Makoto Shinkai level crying?: Not really but it has the emotion of one of those pieces. And is truly a beautiful story and a good film overall. It really had me wanting to see what would happen next, the characters each have their own problems with voicing their feelings and I felt the whole thing was done pretty well. The ending isn't cliche and though it has the feel of your general high school anime, with parts it deals with things that everyone can relate to making it sort of like a slice of life story and even some slightly shoujo moments. It's a well balanced mix and character reactions and interactions are realistic in a way that makes you go 'god I remember being like that' with the voice actors giving just the right amount of emotion whether in key scenes or in simple background chatter.Sure there's drama but its not over done or oozing with unbearable levels of angst. Tiny amount of angst sure, but hey,it's high school.Would I recommend it: Hell yeah, probably one of the best high school stories I've seen in ages that wasn't fantasy/sport based. It doesn't have a cliche ending and you feel a connection with most of the characters.

A Truly Emotive Film
This film is a fantastic experience! It doesn't shy away from its chosen themes and has consistent character development. By the end of the film, I fully understood what each characters' motivation was and resonated with their struggles. I would highly recommend giving 'The Anthem of the Heart' a shot!

Scrambled eggs!
A thoroughly enjoyable title with an original storyline and intriguing egg imagery throughout. Not as good as some of the other 2017 releases but an essential watch.
