Q: Could the air supply for this come from a motorised compressor used for pumping tyres?

It does need a decent compressor mine is a clarke 100 litre and works fine a small electric pump would not work. I also bought the 1 line to 2 splitter to bleed the twin bleed nipple caliper on my motorbike but found just using the single line supplied works better. its a good quality piece of kit though the caps and lines work very well and fit nice and snug.....just buy a half decent compressor! :-)

Hose is too small, struggles to suck brake fluid I doubt it could manage something as viscous as engine oil (especially used sludge)

Q: can this be used on abs systems.

I’ve used this vacuum bleeder on cars/vans with abs and I haven’t had any problems to date. But I always make sure the ignition is fully off before starting to bleed the system. If you are still unsure I’d refer to the car models workshop repair/service manual

Q: What size air line adapter do I need please. 3/8 or 1/4in.

Most airline adapters have the same thread so can put what ever one you want in
