Budget price but great little lantern
I was looking for something to hook up to my 6v output solar panel, since the pond fountain pump was now defunct. This was ideal as it has a voltage input socket for 6v. I now have the lantern hanging in my shed and wired to the 6v battery which the solar panel charges during the day.It is on a timer and when it comes on at night it seems to give out a lot of light. Some of the other reviews were a bit negative on the amount of useable light, but in my case , I can look into my shed (through the window) from about 6 metres distance and see every item in the shed. If I need to go into the shed then there appears to be plenty of light from the lantern to enable me to collect any item I wish. I would think that the light is great for seeing what you are doing or what is about you, in an otherwise dark environment, but it not really suited for lighting up work areas or for reading a novel. I am delighted with it for such a small outlay.

Good Buy
I purchased this lamp in case of power cuts in the winter. We have two similar lamps, bought several years ago, which don't have the wind-up mechanism and one of the batteries loses its power very quickly and costs a fortune to replace. This lamp is easier to operate and the battery lasts longer between charges. It may not be the brightest of lights but should suffice in an emergency.

Very nice wind up lanterns.
Yes, very good. We bought two. As previous reviewers have already said: you can't read by these lanterns but you can see your way by them. These seem to hold their charge nicely and are easy to use. Just press the button for the different light strengths and again for off. They also have a built in compass.

Inexpensive lighting
It does what it says on the tin, you wind it up, it gives off light, no need to worry about batteries etc. Needed it as a secondary illumination in my home in case of power cuts. The light it gives off is adequate - what do you expect for that price - Blackpool Illuminations? Very satisfied.

very handy
this lantern is very useful, in cupboards, attics and outdoors, and great if you have a power cut, it gives off enough light and is lightweight, you can wind it up or it will take batteries or can be charged in the car.

Summer camping
Bought for camping next summer. My kids need a light on all night and I didn't want anything too bright. I borrowed one last summer and it did the trick.

They were gifts and gratefully received; recipients were impressed by how easy they were to operate and will keep close to hand in the event of power cuts.

Seems fine and dandy
Seems fine and dandy. I got it as back up in case electricity failed sometime. It is sturdy and looks ok to me. Would recommend it to purchasers.
