do I need a special bucket for this?

It is good to have a rotating bucket, that usually comes with such mops. They make sure the surplus of water gets drained away. But of course, you can use it with other buckets, too.

Not sure as I no longer have the mop and bucket as I didn't like it very much. Sorry i cannot be of help.

the mop is difficult to attach to handle

Make sure all fibre cloth is out the hole not tucked in, Then put your foot down on the mop base and push it then clicks in not the easiest. hope this helps.
