Western Digital Purple 1TB Surveillance 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s Hard Disk Drive with Allframe 4K Technology - 180TB/yr, 64MB Cache, 5400rpm - WD10PURZ

Replaced existing failed drive and now works perfectly

I bought this to replace a failed hard drive in my Alien CCTV digital video recorder. I could see a live view on the CCTV but there were no recordings. The old hard drive was 500GB so I went for the 1TB to double the recording capacity. Installation was very easy as the position of the mounting screw holes on the underside of the hard drive matched the holes in the base of the DVR. Just two ribbon cables to plug into the hard drive and after formatting, which was automatic and took about five minutes, it was all up and running and working perfectly. CCTV fixed next day and upgraded to double recording capacity for less than £44 when an engineer call out could easily have been three times that plus the cost of the hard drive. Very happy indeed, thanks Amazon!

Surveillance hard drive market is becoming crowded now. But, still I have no doubt to say WD Purple is the best hard drive for when it come so Surveillance hard drive range . I tried Toshiba, Seagate in past but comes to end of the verdict that in terms of reliability, performance, this a long lasting hard drive. Even my old drives, (500gb) nearly 5 years old, still absolutely working fine, no issue, only I needed a big storage for my DVR as My DVR got only one hard drive slot, so I had to replace with 1TB. I trust this brand. I would highly recommend this WD Purple hard drive if you are need to upgrade or replace you existing cctv hard drive.

Harddrive for my 1TB HUMAX Freesat box. Great product.

Works perfectly. Used to replace the HD in a Humax HDR Fox T2 PVR

Installed this into an NVR. Very easy to install, just hook-up the two leads and it's ready to operate after the NVR has formatted the HD. Records CCTV effortlessly, providing first-rate playback. Expect this HD to have a life time of at least 5 years, hopefully more as per my previous HD. Good buy for the price and would recommend for either normal PC use or NVR.

The unit does exactly what it is intended for, once it has been installed and formatted. Super easy to install as a replacement unit and it comes extremely well packaged and protected for shipping/delivery.

Been installed now for a couple of months without any issues. Confusingly, most budget CCTV + Camera(s) digital video recorders ( DVR’s or NVR’s ) don’t actually record without a hard drive, available at extra cost. They only let you view your cameras image(s) on your monitor as ‘live view’. Fitting the required compatible ‘Purple’ 1TB Hard Drive is relatively straightforward - usually just need a star screwdriver to open the recorder case to view the two fitted leads which can only fit the compatible plugs on the circuit board. My system is hidden in an easy access, and well aired, cupboard but placed in a living room, in open view, a slight ‘whiring’ could be heard. Its not much louder than a old VCR machine in ‘play mode’. Down to personal preference. Since buying my kit I’ve noticed that, increasingly, retailers now appear to be including the required hard drive as part of a Recorder + Camera package.
