Metal Resistance

resistance is futile
BABYMETALS second album is great. It gets better the more I listen to it. Even though I prefer to SEE BABYMETAL perform, because seeing them dance along with the songs is the true way to experience them and it's really what this band is all about, I still enjoy the album but just know it is better LIVE or watching video.Road of Resistance - This song has been out for a year. It's awesome, the video is awesome. Watch it on youtube. One of my favorite BABYMETAL songs.Karate - Catchy riffs and vocals. No guitar solo. Sounds a bit "commercial" and made for a more mass appeal or radio play but I still really like it. There is a video for this song to, so go watch it.Awadama Fever - Truely a BABYMETAL song here. Its about blowing bubblegum bubbles and riding them into another world. Super fun and catchy with a serious guitar break in the middle. Good stuff.Yava! - I will always call this song Chigau. Its a song about things that are different. It has a SKA feel to it and it will get stuck in your head. Especially the part that goes pi po pa po pi po pa po pi.....see now its stuck in my head..again. Another fun song.Amore - I though this would be a ballad. Derp, I was wrong. It is pretty fast paced and has some good guitar work and tight double bass drums. Su's vocals are solid as ever. good song.Meta Taro - Umm it's like a anime song mixed with some kind of celtic / viking anthem or something. I can't quite explain but it is good. Su's vocals are kind of cute and playful in this. I expect this song to grow on me the more I listen to it.From Dusk till dawn - Heavy but dreamy and sort of relaxing. The vocals are subtle and almost hidden in the music. I really like this song even though it doesn't feel all that "Babymetal"GJ! and Sis anger are Moi Moi's Black BABYMETAL tunes. I was expecting some kind fo cutsy songs like Onedari Diasakusen or song 4 but these 2 songs are 2 of the heaviest on the album. I really like them both. They have great rhythm and vocal style on both.No Rain No Rainbow has been out for a while too and it is a solo power ballad for Su and it is absolutely awesome. It doesn't really fit with the other songs on the album but it's still one of my favorites. I even memorized most of the words...in Japanese...and I dont speak japanese !Tales of Destinies is like a Dragon Force/Fates Warning/Babymetal pizza put in a blender, formed into meatballs and tossed into a plate of spaghetti with awesome sauce and servred hot and it works. This song is all over the place but if your brain can take it all in and make sense of it it tastes good. One of the best tracks off the album IMO.The One (english version) - well this is the song for all the fans of BABYMETAL. It is our anthem. Its our song, We are the one, together forever. I am so proud of Su on this song. Her english is really good and I know she practiced hard to achive that. The album is very well done and even though the girls are singing less about chocolate, parties and being late for school. the music is solid and evolving right along with them as they mature. I look forward to more BABYMETAL in the future.

One thing is for sure, Suzuka Nakamoto can flat out sing.
Babymetal is firing on all cylinders with this album. Not as quirky as the first one, but more cohesive and shows the progression of everyone on Team Babymetal. Production, arrangements, engineering, all improved from their debut album. Some of the raw playfulness is missing, but in return there is a maturity in every aspect. Not only are the girls growing up, everyone else is too.One thing is for sure, Suzuka Nakamoto can flat out sing. Here are my thoughts as I listened to them. Get ready for a heavier Babymetal01: Road of Resistance: Good opening to the album, gets you in the mood. A good prelude.02: Karate: More pop than any song on the album. Seems to be as commercial as Babymetal will get, and is positioned to introduce people to the band, and at that it succeeds marvelously. The video is epic.03: Awadama Fever: Listening to this in headphones, getting all the harmonics and metallic overtones raises this into the stratosphere. They haters said Babymetal is nothing more than bubble gum metal, well here it is, turned to 11. Chew on that haters.04; Yava!: The opening is incredible with its syncopation before settling into a ska-punk-pop-metal. Absolutely insane, perhaps the best song on the album. A lot going on and it all sounds very organic.05: Amore: Opens slowly with Su-metal singing very sweetly, then speeds up with a Dragonforce vibe. Excellent song, great vocals.06: Meta Taro: The Anime Hero we have been waiting for. Babymetal at its best.07: From Dusk till Dawn –The song has a lot of breaks and drops, and is hard to describe. Ethereal metal, is that a genre? Could be now. Suzuka really shows her range here, singing in a falsetto often, which she does really well. If you thought Su was a great singer before, you will need to revise your opinion upward.08: GJ: Black Babymetal. Puts the heavy in juonbu. Completely bonkers. When read the translated lyrics (Here is a new lamb, Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!), funniest song you will ever here about getting pushed around a train station.09: Sis Anger: Black Babymetal goes on a rampage. Heaviest song Babymetal has done so far., the lyrics are apparently quite vulgar in Japanese and hysterical in English. (Stop screwing around! Hey! Listen up!' You lied? Trying to flatter me? Oh, that's the spirit! Come and take me on!) Yui and Moa at their best, their voices are a perfect counterpoint to the shredding guitars.10: No Rain, No Rainbow: I love this song, Su-metal given a chance to sing her heart out, and break yours, which she does to perfection11: Tale of the Destinies: Black Babymetal meets Babymetal. Speed metal with Emerson circa Karn Evil 9 and all that madness.12: The One: In ways the most impressive vocal performance by Suzuka. She has such good phrasing (placement of syllables to notes) in a foreign language, it almost sounds natural. Su’s phrasing has always been among the best in the business, here she makes a statement. She can sing with control and power, and do it for seven minutes. Puts a bookend on the range of Su’s talents.

Another great offering
The band tries out some new styles, but the Baby Metal energy and intensity is as strong as ever.
