Felco does it right, I don't understand how it can be so difficult and why so many other manufacturers can fail in something so simple. I wish there was more products like Felce.I bought these as a back-up because a lot of reviews advised me to buy an extra set of springs and I like to have parts for a repair if needed. Well, the springs are still in the original packaging and I haven't yet needed them. But, I like my Felco secateurs.If you plan to use your secateurs for more than a couple of years, don't waste your money on a different brand than Felco. The Felco secateurs are built sturdy and well, they're built to last, the individual parts are all replaceable and fit well together. It's not rocket science to build a good product and yet so many other companies fail in making a product that works just as well and with as great satisfaction.Once you own a pair of Felco secateurs you might even wonder if what all the fuss is about because the just go about their function without calling any attention to themselves. They don't squeek and they cut well and they just keep on working well. Once adjusted to the right tension to suit your use and to make sure they don't bind when opening and closing, all you have to do is clean them after use and they'll serve you well.

Does the job

I had a pair of Wilkinson Sword secateurs with a broken spring and a much bigger pair of unknown origin and quite different design with a missing spring and these little beauties have fixed both even though they were designed for neither and weren't really a perfect fit - they can hardly be blamed for that though. You have to conclude that, as long as the internal diameter of the spring isn't smaller than the peg it has to fit over, these must be pretty much universal. They are everything I expected and needed and a lot cheaper than new secateurs. I've made many hundreds of cuts with the new springs in place, mainly with the WS pair, with no problem at all, cutting up the finer pieces of an entire tree into very short lengths so the whole thing would fit into the recycling bin ready for the last collection of the year tomorrow. They seem well made and have a good tension, reopening the blades well without being unnecessarily firm to close. Nothing negative to say at all.

This is a replacement spring plus spare for wife’s Felco 4s - this means strip down, clean, sharpen (new blade next year i think) lub reassemble and adjust. Worth every penny and she hasn’t lost them yet.

Managed to lose the spring on my favorite secateurs and one of these solved the problem and still leaves a spare for next time it happens.
