Starrett Carpenter Square - K53M-250-S Stainless Steel Angle Ruler Carpentry 250mm (10”) - Aluminium Alloy Handle for Craftsman Woodworking

This square has to be the best value square on Amazon right now. I checked its square when it arrived and it is perfect. The rulers are properly calibrated off the respective inner and outer faces of the stock. The thin metal ruler arm of the square is straight not bent like many squares with long thin metal rulers. It feels very sturdy and I expect it to stay square for a long long time. It is made of good quality steel not aluminium so it will not get dented and bashed easily like the aluminium ones do. The length is very useful for general woodwork and also for checking/setting the squareness of flat pack furniture while assembling it. Highly recommended especially at this price!

I bought this as my old try square was not entirely square anymore. Firstly let me say that this is a big try square, for the price I was expecting something smaller but you certainly get your moneys worth. Secondly, yes the edges on the ruler can be sharp and pointy, but this isn't a toy it's a piece of equipment so as long as you treat it with due respect there shouldn't be an issue. If you don't like the edges then just file them down a bit. The structure seems to be fine and sturdy with no flex or movement between the two outside edges, it does 90 degree and 45 degree measurements easily.

Mine is definitely square, seems OK in general, but there are some very sharp edges that need removing, so the quality is a bit poor, but it's a tenner and it is indeed square, so all's good.

Checked for square using a digital gauge... 90; or possibly 90.1..... close enough for my woodworking capability :) Seems very sturdy but edges and particularly corners of the handle do need softening off for comfort when using, as others have observed. I used a bit of emery paper to do that; - took all of 2 minutes. Very, very good value. I assume this is made in China. Much of the chinese stuff on Amazon is total rubbish but this square is solidly built and fit for purpose.

Very impressed with my first 350 size starrett square, light weight, solid and perfectly square and for a reasonable price, so impressed that I ordered 200 and 250 sizes both for £7! and both of those are perfectly square too, genuinely more accurate than some engineering squares that I've bought and returned in the past. Not checked measurement scale for accuracy this is based just on using as a square

Great price, well packaged - protected from damage and promptly delivered in 1 day. As you can imagine I quickly set up, on a known straight edge, a test - using my new mechanical (0.35) pencil.. and hey presto (after repeating the test 5 times) square. I followed the test for square with a test of the 45° which didn't disappoint.... perfect! The build quality is great... machined billet alloy with a rivetted connection. Rule markings are clear and I can use my mechanical pencil or knife in conjunction to get mark accurate measurements.

An ideal carpenters square for baking straight cuts in wood. I've already used this more than I thought I would and it's been spot on every time. For cutting short pieces of wood to marking out longer cuts it's been perfect. For short lengths of mood I can even use it to guide my jigsaw or circular saw. For the price you couldn't ask for better.

I believe Starrett is a name synonymous with well engineered, finished and accurate tools - I think in the case with this try square, the name is just a selling point. There's not much to shout about with this - it's fairly basic, lightweight, and I can only assume accurate, but I don't have anything to really test this by. The finishing is fairly poor, with sharp edges (which I took off with a fine diamond stone upon receiving it) and heavy grinding marks when the cast piece has been flattened. Aside from these points, this is a very affordable tool. I wanted a sturdy, all metal square for checking right angles and square in cabinet making, and this does the job well.

Versand mit DHL zügig (Prime-Versand) und Verpackung übertrieben gut (muss ich mal erwähnen, Daumen hoch). In diesem Preissegment sehe ich die Verarbeitung des Anschlagwinkels als sehr gut und kann nichts bemängeln. Die Winkel für 90° und 45° sind annähernd genau und fest angebracht. Die Zahlen der Messskala sind tief geprägt und gut ablesbar. Das Material ist Edelstahl. Wie in anderen Rezensionen zu lesen weist die Messskala eine Abweichung von 0,5 mm auf. Ich weiß nicht wer für unter 10€ die Genauigkeit eines Feinmessinstrumentes erwartet aber nun gut, für meine Belange im Zuschneiden von Laminat, Verlegeplatten und Möbelteilen ist es durchaus angemessen und eine Toleranz von +-1 mm ist in der Regel üblich. Ich kann dieses Produkt gut heißen und weiter empfehlen.
