Q: Does it need an antiscale cartridge?

Hello. No it doesn’t. It’s so simple to descale. Every so often it will beep to tell you it needs descaling. You unscrew a cap and empty the water into a container and it’s good to go. One tip I can recommend is to fill it with deironised water only. We never get any brown water spitting out anymore and the water when descaling is completely clear. It’s a brilliant machine if treated well.

Q: can I use tap water as we have a water softener installed?

This steam generator is designed for use with tap water and / or distilled water. I researched this myself and found that a mix of water and tap water is probably best for longevity.

Q: Can you switch off the steam to use it for dry ironing?

The steam cannot be switched off, assuming there is water in the boiler, but the steam will only come out when the steam button is depressed, so yes one can dry iron, the results are not as good as with steam of course though.

Q: Is there a wall storage bracket available?

This iron does not come with a wall bracket and I am not aware that such a product exitsts. I suggest you go to the Philips website and contact them with your query. Not sure why you would want a bracket as the hose is long enough for the base to be placed on the floor. My wife loves this iron!
