This product is a love letter to Star Trek fans.
I bought this phaser replica as a birthday gift for a friend, who is a Star Trek ultra-fan since childhood, and I asked him as its true user to make a review for it. I quote what he wrote:"I should say that this product is a work of art. I haven't (as yet) used it as a remote control and I doubt that I ever will so this review is about the product as a replica and it's packaging. As a replica this is a perfect one. It seems a real Phaser, almost a love letter to the fans of TOS. It's made of both plastic and metal. The grip is completely metallic, the body of both Phasers (type 1 & type 2) are a mixture of plastics and metal. As a Phaser the device has 10 settings, from 0 (idle) to 9 (overload) and it reproduces all the corresponding sounds of a TOS phasers perfectly. Even in 0 (it reproduces a satisfactory "click!" sound). The Phaser sound discharges are accompanied by a varied display of colours from the muzzle of the Phaser, which can be adjusted to "emit" wide and narrow beams as needed. The packaging is amazing. It cames in a standard issue plastic case from the USS Enterprise itself, with the disassembled Phaser inside it. It includes a USB cable to charge the Phaser and an XXIIIrd Century screwdriver to assemble the weapon. It also includes a metallic base, which is magnetic, so the Phaser can became the pride of your bookshelf. It is also a very efficient weapon. Just the other day some Klingons invaded my home and, thanks to the standard issue Phaser, I dealt with them accordingly. Stun setting (1 & 2), obviously, because violence is never the answer".I can only add that it probably is one of the the most amazing gifts you can make to a true trekkie.

“Fascinating”
Basically this is for fans of the original series of Star Trek and it is impressive by any standard. As a kid I always wanted a good look at the prop and in those days freez frame wasn’t widely available and image quality wasn’t what it is today. This is an idealised version based on scans of a real hero prop from the series. It isn’t an exact replica the handles thinner, the bodies idealised, more symmetrical with different seams and different handle connection design (I could go on) These changes are subtle but they seem to be intended to the enhance the product. The quality is really impressive. Whoever designed this put a lot of care and effort into the details which include metal parts where appropriate and functional details true to the original prop. The range of effects is impressive. The design of the remote control functions integrate well with the design of the prop. The price is very affordable too.

it's a nice piece of kit
This is a quality product. Heavy and with a "real" feel (haven't managed to vapourise the cat yet, though). From the moulded authentic looking case it arrives in, to the multi-function sounds and lights, it's a nice piece of kit. The two best sounds are the phaser on overload and the photon torpedo from TOS, but don't forget that it's a TV remote as well. I don't use that , because I want this thing on display and not breaking down through over-use. Its on display and I get positive comments every time anyone sees it. Well worth the investment. Plus, it looks (and feels) great!

Vibration started to rattle
Very high quality finish.. really feels fantastically authentic to hold. the sounds are great too. My problem was that the vibration broke after only one day.. it made a very annoying rattle that wouldn't go away. perhaps it was just a bad unit so i sent it back for a refund.

Highly recommended!
When I'd finished 'playing' with my Phaser I had to email The Wand Company directly and congratulate them on making such a fantastic 'toy'. It is remarkable. The detail is second to none and the features are brilliant. Although I'm too lazy to fully utilise its capabilities as yet I have had much fun zapping anything that moves, disabling any TV or remote controlled gadget that gets in my way. (It is, of course, a fully functioning remote control). The amount of effects for the Phaser is good too. It's ranges from a single pulse all the way through to self destruct. I learned a few tips from YouTube on how to use it most effectively. There are a couple of 'Easter Eggs' you may want to know about. One small thing I would like to point out is the cover to the dilithium crystal. It can work a little loose. This is easily fixable with a blob of BluTak placed inside the cover. This connects the cover to the crystal giving it stability and is unseen. (A very small problem that is easily fixed and you don't lose the cover).Lastly, if you are hesitating about buying one of these Phasers, don't. It is now one of my most prized possessions and the envy of my fellow 50 year+ mates. It is sitting proudly on its magnetic stand on my bookcase.

Just got my Phaser and what an artwork it is (I love the little Dilitium crystal in the sideslot) I have an old Playmates edition but this one is really something as its very solid metallic construction and the two units fit excellently together; it feels just like a real weapon . The SFX are also brilliant and the fact in comes in a Stat Fleet box looks like you just went to Star Fleet Armoury for it (the little screw driver is dinky!) My only gripe is I can't understand all the gesture and moves to get it to work as a remote control. But a great item to celebrate the 50th Birthday (now bring on the Tricorder please!)
