Does this fan have shutters (or something else) in the fan to prevent backdrafts please? Xpelair site not working for me; so can't check there.

No the fan does not have shutters to close the front

No exterior cover or venting tubes supplied.

If i install this on my bathroom ceiling, how does the air go out? Do i have to attach a tube to let the air flow out?

Yes You would need a flexible pipe from screwfix or somewhere similar. The same as what you would use for a tumble dryer outlet. Think you would also need a step down reducing spigot to reduce the 150mm to 100mm. Then a special roofing tile to match existing, available from roofing supply specialists supplier where you connect the flexi pipe to.

Can this be wired without using the timer option.. ie so it switches on & off from the operating switch?

Yes you can wire it to a 13 amp plug and switch it off and on via the socket. I have two fitted in my workshop on 13 amp plugs but do use a plug in timers on both of them.
