Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable in White 6 Feet(Manufacturer Discontinued)

I bought a late 2012 Mac Mini with an Intel i7 processor and then installed a SSD to speed it up even more. So, all that was left was to get a display running at 2560 x 1440. I decided on the Samsung 27" LED S27B970B monitor capable of this resolution. Once setup I realized that HDMI would not give me the resolution I was looking for. I learned that I needed to use the Thunderbolt connection on the Mac and the Displayport connection on the Samsung monitor. Well, Thunderbolt is essentially a mini Displayport; this cable turned out to be the perfect solution - mini Displayport to Displayport. I am typing this review while enjoying my new 2560 x 1440 resolution. Don't settle for some other type of solution (I'm told perhaps a DVI-D would work, but why use an adapter and cable when you can just use a cable) - this is perfect and CHEAP! Time will tell if the cable holds up, but I suspect I will not have any issues. If I do, I will update this review.

The packaging was the first thing that struck me as high quality (I expected the typical unlabeled bag). It's a nice, clean package that has the same feel as apple packages. Why am I focused so much on the packaging? Because it sets the tone for the rest of the product. The cable just feels high quality. The mini display port end has a subtle, visually appealing grip to it to help plug and unplug. The other end has a clip that ensures its locked (which other cheaper ones have as well but it feels sturdier). Overall the cable works extremely well, I won't be staring at it much now that it's plugged in but I just wanted others to know if you're looking for a high quality, professional cable, look no further. I can't speak on how long it will last but I can't see a company going this far out of their way to make a nice package, custom cable ends etc and skimp on the innards.

Bought two back in 2016 to use with my MacBook Pro 13' Retina Display (early 2015) and my two Samsung 4K 28" monitors. After 1,5 year of regular use - I don't carry nor move/twist it frequently (it's basically resting on the desk both at home and work) - both cables stopped working with a difference of a month between each other. Initially I thought it was be a problem with my Mac and/or my monitors (I couldn't believe the coincidence of having two cables failing at approximately the same time), but I've managed to find a new cable from a friend and my Mac as well as the monitors are working just fine. Isolating all factors, the only thing really failing are the cables (and there's two of them to make sure is not an individual/isolated case). It seems that this cable is not very durable (compared to other cables such as HDMIs, USBs, etc), so bare that in mind. I don't have experience with other brands, and the ones I owned worked well for the time being... until they died (prematurely IMHO).

I got this to go from the Thunderbolt Port on my MacBook Pro to a DisplayPort display. The Mini DisplayPort end plugs into the MacBook and the regular DisplayPort end goes into the monitor. I was able to achieve full 2560x1440 resolution on my monitor and the quality and refresh is amazing! This cable was perfect and it was long enough to easily reach from my laptop to the back of the monitor. This cable is great! It is high quality (feels well made) and works perfect! it was not expensive and provides the full WGHD resolution from my MacBook to my monitor!! Highly recommend for a basic DisplayPort cable (that converts from Mini).

Seems like people are having mixed results with this cable (and most other mini-DP to DP cables). I have been unable to get full 2560x1440 resolution to work with my 2012 Macbook Air on a Dell U2711 monitor. Works fine in 2048x1152, but the second I bump up to full 2560x1440 resolution I just get a jarbled, screendoor display that only takes up a quarter of the screen on the left. Audio is distorted as well when I send it through the cable, but not so worried about that, just thought it would be a cool bonus as it's claimed in the product description that this works as well. Will try another brand of cable and see if it's any better.

This is an updated review - I originally gave this product one star, because I bought it thinking it was a mini-display port to HDMI cable. I still think that the seller should do a better job of making it completely explicit in the product name what types of ports it supports. The fact is, from a casual review of EVERY one of my acquaintances and friends, everyone is using HDMI to connect their video-storage and playing devices, laptops, etc to their large-screen TVs these days. So I ordered this by mistake, thinking it was HDMI, which it is not - it's some weird, non-standard cable format. Long story short, the manufacturer rapidly contacted me after seeing my review, and was very accommodating. I returned the cable, they issued me a refund, and helped point me towards their correct HDMI cable, which I purchased, and which works fine. So, based upon the excellent customer service and response time of this company, I have changed my rating and would do business with them again.

I bought these based on the great reviews. As promised, I got the high resolution when I connected my 27" monitor to my Macbook Pro. After about a month of use, the product has stopped working. All I get is "No Signal" from the monitor. My old dvi cables work which means the the monitor is not at fault. It could be that I just got a cable from a bad batch or something. UPDATE 1/29/2014 - The seller contacted me and offered to send me replacement cables free of charge. I received the replacement cables and return envelope for the broken ones. The new cables work like a charm. The seller has shown that they care about quality and customer service which I rate really high in my book. Keep it up Cable Matters!

Worked as expected

Das Kabel macht einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck. Es funktioniert einwandfrei. Höchste Auflösung garantiert, auch 21:9! Displayport unterstützt höhere Auflösungen als HD (1920x1080). Habe das Kabel für meinen Mac mini gebraucht. Ich habe einen großen 21:9 Bildschirm der bei voller Auflösung 2560x1080 wiedergibt. Hatte den Mac mini erst mit HDMI angeschlossen. Die Auflösung war grottig. Hochskaliertes 1920x1080. Sah schlimm aus. Da der Mac mini außer HDMI eine Thunderbolt Anschluß hat und man an diesem ein MiniDisplayport Kabel anschließen kann, habe ich mich für diese Kabel entschieden. Vorraussetzung ist natürlich, dass der Bildschirm Diplayport ebenfalls unterstützt.

Fonctionne très bien entre le MBP mid 2011 et mon écran iiyama 28". Comme indiqué dans l'objet de mon article, la qualité est là, la longueur pour moi idéale et la conformité rassure dans le bon fonctionnement de l'ensemble.

Das Kabel lässt sich einfach in den Monitor und den Thunderbolt-Anschluss anschließen. Die Stecker sind vergoldet. Auf jedem Ende ist nochmals eine stabile Schutzkappe drauf. Das Kabel ist relativ flexibel und nicht sehr steif.
