From burlesque show to fashion runway, magazine cover to Internet video, fashion icon and “burlesque superheroine” ( Vanity Fair ) Dita Von Teese has undergone more strokes of red lipstick, bursts of hair spray, boxes of blue-black hair dye and pats of powder in a month than a drag queen could dream of in a lifetime. Whether she’s dazzling audiences swirling in a towering martini glass in Swarovski-covered pasties and stilettos or sparking camera flashes on the red carpet, one reality is constant: for this self-styled star, beauty is an art. Now, for the first time in her Technicolor career, Dita divulges the beauty wisdom that keeps her on international best-dressed lists and high-profile fashion show rosters in this illustration and photography-filled opus. Review: A Beautiful Guide to Glamour - This was such an enjoyable read. It’s a detailed, stylish guide with practical tips and Dita’s vintage glamour. It has real personality and left me feeling inspired. Review: The most fabulous beauty book I've ever seen - I knew the name and the image, but this book had me enraptured! From the first page you are treated to an adventure with the most glorious, glamorous woman of this age. Her insights are so beautifully presented and she gives full acknowledgement of the bygone days when glamour was the ruling style. There are motes of wisdom on each page and the photography is wonderful to be behold. I went in search of Dita's perfumes, unfortunately difficult to find on the high street, but I raved to the uninitiated about this incredible book and the originator of its premissions for existence. I hope that in my small way I might inspire others to follow the same message of individuality that Dita shows in this marvellous book. I love make up. I love using it and working with it to help others to learn to appreciate their own personal look. The main lesson that Dita gave me was not to be afraid to break the 'rules' and be an individual. I felt like a flower in the spring sunshine reading and browsing through this fabulous work and I have vowed never to be afraid to express my inner beauty just as I am. I recommend this book to anyone interested in make up and in searching for the courage to express your personal beauty. Thank you Dita x

I now own the brightest red lipstick :-)
My husband was (or maybe still is ;-)) a big Dita Von Teese fan and that is where I first heard about her. Over the years I have always thought she was an intriguing person as well as very sensual. Her book is so interesting and has so much packed in it that I found really interesting. Her style is classy and sophisticated and also timeless. She takes great care of herself and it is almost unbelievable that she would entertain drinking alcohol. She talks openly about many things and one in particular was about her struggle with her skin problems. She does seem to have lovely skin but she also explains all the hard work she puts into keeping it looking so lovely. I have taken notes and have already made changes to my facial routine and one being to use moisturiser on a daily bases. She really stands out in a crowd and has her own unique style that I admire so much. One of the stories she tells is about how she went to some event and dressed down, wore a long brown wig and jeans and the photographer asked her to move out of the way so he could take pictures of other people that were there. That for me stuck out and shows that she really enjoys being unique, different and has a style all of her own. She does not copy anyone else but clearly has a style that was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. She speaks briefly about her marriage to Marilyn Manson too. I am very pleased with this book and my daughter is keen to read it too. I feel it is for all ages and her beauty tips are very helpful and practical too.

Superb!
I didn't buy this for the hair and makeup tips, but for the philosophy. I've sometimes been uncomfortable about my love of beauty and style - and about the gulf between my plain, natural self and my scrubbed-up, glammed-up alter ego, and Dita has given me courage and clarity. She is an inspiration , totally comfortable in her own skin, and committed to the creation of a beauty that others may call artificial. But Dita values artifice, and for her, beauty is an art form to be celebrated. Beauty is a way of life for her, and she is incredibly generous in her encouragement for others to follow that path. Another major plus is that she genuinely celebrates older women. You won't find any patronising advice here about toning down your look and wearing less makeup after you pass 40! Thank God! There are plentiful contributions from other experts, but make no mistake, Dita has written his book herself, in a wry, charming style. Cultural references and gorgeous photographs abound, making this sophisticated, fun book worth every penny.

Absolutely brilliant
I wasn't expecting the immense inspiration and change this book brought in my life, this is an absolute must read for all those who want to stand out of the crowd, from the very first page Dita invites us to rethink how much our style is really our own or a result of us trying to fit in and look like everyone else. Not only it inspired me to view myself under a complete different light but also it instilled in me the pleasure of beauty itself, as this magical ritual of self discovery and self-love by one of the most seducing and charming women...

Throughly enjoyed this book
Lovely coffee table book. She features her inspirations and they are an interesting read along with her likes and her take on style. Why a 4 star? Because with packaging there was slight damage as the book jacket was stuck on the packaging so tearing off gently as possible still caused some damage, annoying.

well written and good quality photos and tips on how to live as ...
Very helpful book, well written and good quality photos and tips on how to live as glamorous as Ms. Teese herself. Extremely visual and beautifully designed, fascinating to read/look at even if you have no interest in living a glamorous lifestyle. Quite a large book with many chapters on everything to do with beauty and glamour, from healthy eating to make up tips to bathing like a goddess. Also has pages dedicated to Dita von Teese's close celebrity friends, such as make up artist and RuPaul's Drag Race season 3 winner Sutan Amrull a.k.a Raja.

Know what you are worth
I got this book when I was many problems and difficulties in my life. When I started to read it, it made me feel alive and appreciate myself more. You will get inspired and motivatived from this book to work on yourself and make you more attractive and beautiful. I always though that Dita Von Teese is just a burlesque dancer, but I found out she is very educated and clever women and she knows “price for herself”. One of my favorite books now! I recommend this book for everyone, who has low confidence. Honestly, this book will change your mind about yourself (in a good way of course!)!!

She only signs her name to products of amazing quality, so I know I won't be disappointed ...
I am going to preface this with saying that I absolutely adore Dita Von Teese and I will likely gladly give my money over to whatever she puts out. She only signs her name to products of amazing quality, so I know I won't be disappointed (and I haven't been thus far!). Also, I first learned of Dita when I was a teenager, grappling with my own identity and the potential of what I could become. I latched onto Dita because she was a self-professed creation of glamour and class, rising from the ashes of her former self--blonde Heather Sweet from rural Michigan. I thought to myself, "If this is what she can do, then why can't I?" It didn't hurt that she personified a modern-day pinup look that I injected into my own life from the time I first laid eyes on a Bettie Page art rendering. I have long been fascinated by Dita Von Teese for so many reasons, not the least of which is how she crafts her signature look on a daily basis. As she points out in every interview I've ever read or seen of her, she is almost 100% DIY. She does her own hair and makeup almost all the time (save for the rare instance she gives herself over to the hands of a true artist and professional on a photo shoot), she serves as her own stylist rather than employing someone for the role, and she even dyes her own hair using box color. BOX COLOR, people! Amazing. So when I learned that she was putting out a book where she laid her secrets bare, I preordered that bad boy and waited for true wisdom to appear on my doorstep. I was not disappointed. This book is part-History book, part-memoir, and part-beauty bible. It covers such a wide range of topics, from hair to makeup to body modifications to diet and exercise. There are some area where I wish she would go into further detail, but honestly it's a matter of laziness because I can easily look up more information elsewhere. I'm just happy to have not a glimpse, but a real look into her world and routines. Not to mention the gorgeous photos scattered throughout! It took me two weeks to read this book, not because of its heftiness--it measured in at roughly 400 pages!!--but because I wanted to savor the experience. I would draw a bath, pour a glass of wine, light some candles, and read for about 45 minutes. I soaked in the bubble bath AND the knowledge that was pouring out this book ;) Seriously, though, I can't say enough good things about this book. To top it off, it's a BEAUTIFUL book that would look at home on any coffee table or vanity.

Me encanta
