Amazingly easy and accurate
This device is a game-changer. I live in the northeast. I didn't feel going out in the cold to check the propane tank that provides heat for my house. I didn't feel like removing all the snow to get to the gauge. But I really want to know how much propane is in my tank, especially when there is a storm coming in. This device solved all those problems! Easy pairing: Download the (free) app, push the button on the sensor, and it's paired. It uses high-power bluetooth, just like your headphones, but with a much larger range. Easy installation: Put some acoustic grease (included) on the sensor head and magnetically stick it to the bottom of your tank. Done. Easy calibration: The app has a leveling screen to ensure that your device is level on the bottom of the tank so that the device is as accurate as possible. Just slide the device around on the bottom of the tank until the dot (in the app) is in the middle of the target. No subscriptions required! This device works directly with your phone. If you're worried about someone else knowing how much propane is in your tank, the data never leaves your devices. Not sure why your propane level would be a security concern, but, hey, it's your data and your privacy. Downside: You need to be within about 100-300 feet (depending upon terrain, walls, etc.) to get data from your tank. No problems if you're near your tank all the time -- this device is perfect for that use. However, if you want to be able to monitor your tank levels from a remote location, you will need their wifi bridge device (https://www.amazon.com/Mopeka-Check-Bluetooth-WiFi-Gateway/dp/B07KN68QGC/). An account with Mopeka is required for the bridge device, but it is free. I also bought the bridge and love it.

3/14/25 UPDATE: Mopeka customer support awesome!
March 2025: Changing back to 5-star for customer service. Upon seeing the January review, customer support reached out directly and after reviewing my device, has offered to replace it. I truly appreciate the above and beyond service of this individual. ========== Jan 2025: Changing from 5-star to 1-star. I'm sorry to say this device only worked for a year and it is not an inexpensive gadget. In December, it stopped working because it needed a new battery, so I bought the special lithium battery. It couldn't be installed without the pea-size special Mopeka brand of sonic grease, so I bought that direct from Mopeka and it took 3 weeks for them to deliver. (It was 4 very small tubes put into the mail and yet took 3 weeks.) The device will not reinstall no matter what I try, so I sent an email to Mopeka support over a week ago and surprise surprise, I have not heard back. Not very impressed with any aspect of Mopeka right now. If I do get an answer or somehow get this reinstalled, I will update this review again but at this time, my previous recommendation of a buy has turned into a don't bother. ========== Nov 2023: Installed the Mopeka Pro+ on a 1000 gallon LP tank. You activate the monitor then find the right spot on the bottom of the tank and it attaches by magnets. Seems to have a strong hold. It took a couple of tries to get it in the right spot but you can "level" your final position so don't let that take you down. I know I'm working with an uneven tank so the perfect level won't be there but once I found a central spot that matched with my tank level, I reset the "level" in the app so that it recognizes the install. Looking at the gauge on my tank with the fat arrow, I would say 75%. App says 74%. So I felt good with that. I also chose the antenna with a 5' cord, just in case. I don't think it necessarily needed it but I had to dig out from under the tank so wanted to make sure the antenna didn't get effected underneath. My tank is about 40-50 feet from back of house and router is on second floor on opposite side of the house. Connection has been strong, no issues here. I will follow-up with a review in a couple of months to verify the level readings have stayed accurate as well as comment on how it holds up during the winter months. Feb 2024 Update: Over the winter, I checked the gauge on the tank to compare to the app about every 2 weeks. The app worked great to notify when the tank hit the designated percentage and every check on the tank to compare to the app was accurate. Never had any issues with wifi or connectivity. Winter was mostly mild then had a few weeks of sub-zero temperatures with 30+mph winds and severe wind-chills (in rural Illinois). The Mopeka stayed strong through it all. If there is anything worth reporting over the summer, I will update again. Otherwise, no news is good news from me.

Amazing product for accurate and remote propane tank monitoring!
We love this little ultrasonic transducer and software. I had to dig snow out from around our horizontal 500 gal tank in 20°F, lay on the ground and wipe clean algae off of our tank for a good install but it was oh so worth it. We now know exactly how much is in our tank at any time from inside the warm house. This small device simply attaches magnetically in a clean spot centered on the bottom of the tank. There is even a built-in leveling tool in the software to help place it in the most accurate location. Ours was just refilled with a prepaid amount. The delivery guy and I were able to watch the software percentage rise as the propane went in. We compared the small, hard the read, gauge on top of the tank with the actual gallons added from the truck meter and this Mopeka was spot on! As long as it holds up in our harsh Wisconsin winters I'll be very happy with the investment. So far, so great! I may add an external antenna at some point for longer range as our cars and snow shorten the range but it still works great from a window inside the house at that. Currently it reads through a 1' snow mound above its height and one vehicle through our kitchen to the dining room at around 50' which is plenty good for us. I'm guessing that more snow and ice would shorten the distance so I'll try adding an inexpensive external antenna before the next snow blocks the signal even more. I don't know of anything else on the market that matches the value of this product and no they haven't given us anything to write this review. This product sells itself! If you can reach your arm under your tank this should work for you also. One last thing I would recommend is placing the unit with the software level to know your location before putting the dielectric grease on and placing in its final spot then clean that area and dry before applying the grease as to not waste the small amount of grease should you need to relocate - or just buy a separate tube of dielectric grease. This device is totally portable and included 2 AAA lithium batteries. We also have an inexpensive standard 5 gal BBQ tank Mopeka monitor. They are both easy to monitor at a glance on one screen. The screenshots are from an android cell phone. Yes, I'd buy them both again if a squirrel decided to take one home!!! Sep 2026 update - we also purchased the TopDown+. I drilled a hole in the lid of our 2000 gal holding tank which is approx. 1.5' off of the ground. It is designed for water tanks but works 95% of the time on the lid. It incorrectly reads 100% on occasion in below freezing Wisconsin winters due to the buildup of humidity on the sensor inside the tank freezing. The same app on my Samsung S21 Pro and wife's iPhone 14 Pro max. show all three Mopeka sensors. The Mopeka Pro models we have work throughout our long house although when completely covered in snow only work about 50'-60', that being through dual pane insulated windows or 1' dia. logs in our 100 year old cabin. We're approaching our 4th year on the same AA lithium batteries that came with the 2 pro devices. The inexpensive 20# propane tank sensor mounted inside our enclosed metal BBQ grill base works about 50' and the little coin size battery lasts approx. 8-12 months. I keep forgetting to change it but it is very accurate just like the Pro models. These three devices have been fantastic! I'd buy all three over again in a heartbeat if anything were to happen to them. Unbelievable that they work in blizzard conditions.

READ- Don't Waste your Money- Lasted 13 months then hasseled to get replaced when faulty.
Bought the Pro+LR Sensor & WiFi Bridge/Gateway separately about 15 m ago (Jan 2023). Initally Guage would not show tank level to sensor correctly. Thought I got it working until asked for Propane to fill tank about 1 month ago with Mopeka showing 25% and Propane company showed me tanks were actually 65% full. Cost me upcharge to deliver smaller amount of Propane. Also the Wifi Bridge USB power port on the bridge box fell out in my hand when replugging in to reset, Mopeka does not have a customer support phone. Sent them an email which did not get a response for days and the response was well you have had the product for 13 months (at the time Feb) our warranty is only 12 months SORRY! Then they proceeded to ask me to send pics and reinstall item before would even continue support. This is a $200+ waste of Money!

It works. Took a while to get it right.
I originally gave this two stars. After considerable repositioning and one 1,000 mile trip from my winter residence to work with it it does work. The position sensor indicator in the app showed proper location, but the results were spotty. I kept moving it around with little in the way of dependability. I ran out of Mopeka grease and had nothing on hand other than some silicon brake lube. Gave it a try and the sensor has performed properly since. I am back at my winter residence, and when checking, get consistent readings. Before the readings were all over the place. Anywhere from 2% to 100%. I don't know if it is the grease, but that is the only thing different. I believe it to be trustworthy.

Very cool
This is awesome, I also bought the job so I could monitor it from anywhere, the setup was so easy spent a few minutes getting it level, which it’s not perfect because I have a seam but got a very strong reading and it was just out of level, ow with Wi-Fi hub I’m good to go anywhere, it took longer to sync the hub with my internet because my thumbs hit the wrong buttons, other than me the install was great, beats going to genrac and paying a yearly subscription.

Review after 1 yr
My Pro Plus sensor is still working like a champ after 13 months before the AAA Lithium Energizer batteries finally needed to be replaced. So that's how long the battery life was for us. I bought 2 more Energizer AAA lithiums to replace the originals. The replacement process was relatively easy. There are instructions provided by the company, and also YouTube videos showing how to do it. The placement and calibration process can be a little confusing and awkward, but I used their app on my phone to do this. It does take some testing to get the sensor placed in just the right spot. But even then I don't think the reading is ever really going to be 100% On Target. I've just made it a habit to call my propane company when my mopeka measurement comes in under 20%, which is a setting I can make in the mopeka app. The app will then send me a warning message to let me know when the tank goes below 20%. The Bluetooth range has been fine for us. The tanks are 20 feet from the house and our house is 37' x 30'. We've had no issues with the communication and readings from inside the house. I had only 1 problem where I needed to contact Mopeka. I seem to recall last year that they were not very responsive to email, but a phone call was successful. The person on the phone was very professional, friendly, and helpful. If you are experiencing problems, it's worth a call because the remote monitoring feature is really a valuable thing to have. And one last note, I would not cheap out on trying to save money for two batteries. I would only recommend replacing with the identical Energizer lithiums. We are planning to add the Wi-Fi Bridge soon so we can monitor the tanks while we are away on vacation.

Worked well for 2 years, then failed to read tank level. Mopeka replaced the sensor.
I got this installed in January 2024. I am also using the wifi bridge. It worked well for the first year, but then I began seeing periodic instances where it would read the tank as empty, when it wasn't empty. These instances usually lasted for 1 day, and then it would read correctly again, until November 2025, when it failed completely. It is still connecting, but it reads the tank as empty, while the physical gauge is showing 75% full. It appears to me that there is some electronic fault somewhere inside. $150.00 seems expensive for an item that will only last 2 years. Also, the batteries seemed to last only a year, at most, so maybe another indication there may be an electronic short somewhere inside. Update: Mopeka sent a replacement for the sensor, and the new one is reading correctly, so hopefully the issue won't continue with the new unit.

Makes your dumb tank smart!
This sensor is very accurate. Easy to install. The only issue is it's range is limited to Bluetooth, meaning your phone has to be within roughly 50' of it to get a reading. Game changer is when you add a mopeka hub to your system. It 'talks' to the sensor and is connected to your local network which allows you to monitor your tank level from anywhere as long as your phone has a data or wifi connection. Game changer when you're away want to monitor the tank level.

Unfortunately does not live to what it claims.
I live in rural are and depend on propane for a lot of things with 2 tanks, 1000 and 500 gallons. I bought 2 of these Pro+ Long Range units hoping the 1000 feet claim would be true. My 2 tanks are about 250 feet apart with the house and garage in between. Connecting both sensors and locating them under the tank was easy, a few minutes per tank and I had a reading that corresponded to the tank gauges. Installation took place during fall. From the start, there were communications issues. I could get a signal from the bedroom for the large tank (about 30 feet) . I never got a signal from the second tank inside the house. Even from outside, I had to be within 100 feet from a tank to get a reading. Not impressed. Fast forward to January. No signal from either tanks even if I get close, like 2 feet, from the tanks. So much for the 1000 feet long range. Since it's BT I didn't really believed it but I thought I'd be good at 1/10th of the range. NOT. The sensors were installed with fresh alcalin batteries. Mopek claims a 5 years battery life in harsh conditions. Average here during winter is -20C with spikes down to -40 -50. That qualifies as harsh conditions. I'll crawl under the tank when springs come to check the batteries. Notwithstanding if it's the batteries or not, the end result is that this just doesn't work as advertised and I'm back to digging to get to the tanks to take a reading after spending 500$ to avoid doing that.

Worked for 15 months then reports empty now
Worked for 15 months, but has now stopped reporting. Tried resetting it and remounting it. It is detected but reports tank as empty (it is not). Perhaps need more ‘sonic grease’ to reattach but that is not available except in USA. Will try some other dielectic grease to see if that fixes problem.
