Does the job!
We use this to power our garden water feature and it's doing the job just fine! The motor is quiet and the build quality feels solid. It came well packaged and setting it up was very simple. Good product and good value for money.

Pump worked admirably
Purchased this as we hit underwater spring for septic tank hole. Dug a sump hole about the depth of unit and it was very easy to set up. 1 star reduction as we had to make a small alteration when reducing float activation length for pumping once the water reached the top of pump unit by attaching small strip of polystyrene to under lip end of float with elastic bands to give final small tip for ball to roll and make connection to start pump. However over the course of a few days we left it connected and it worked admirably cutting in/out as & when it should keeping water level down and allowing work to progress. Main point was the 35mm particle the unit claimed to be able to pump which we never to our knowledge encountered but was good to know as other pumps relate to dirty water but don't necessarily pump particles as such. All in all a good pump at a reasonable price.

A good little pump
I used this, with a bit of modification by taking the casing off the bottom and fitting it to a drum with a hose inlet, to hoover all the muck out of the bottom of a 48 inch deep metal framed splash pool. The pool filter pump couldn't cope with the size of the bits of twigs and leaves that were stagnating in the bottom. It worked brilliantly and made short work of it all. It has a really strong flow and is a good little pump for what I needed it for.

A well made, quiet pump.
I was surprised how quiet this pump is - hardly emits any noise. It can drain my 800 litre hot tub in less than 45 minutes. The float switch is easy to figure out. Position it so that the steel ball inside the float sits at the cable end and the pump works. There's a clip to secure the float switch cable on the body of the pump so that it'll switch off when the water level reaches the top of the pump. Of course, you can make it run 'till the water level drops to the intake slots at the bottom of the pump but I'd suggest this be done manually to prevent the pump from running dry.The fact that it comes with a lengthy guarantee is also a good selling point.I cant say if this pump is better than any other sold on Amazon as they all look pretty much identical but with a different name sticker put on it.The instructions give a UK address so contacting than should be straightforward.Saying that, I'm well pleased with this one.

Out of the box it didn't work
Not sure why they can't install an on off switch with this. Tool it out of the box, installed as the very poorly manual states, placed into hot tub to drain it, plugged into a working mains supply, nothing. Repositioned float several times in 3 degree water (not fun) and it simply doesn't work.Tried everything the manufacturer suggests and it's dead.If pumps are leaving the factory without being tested, it's not great. No damaged to packaging in any way, so left the production line as a non-starter. wouldn't recommend.

Excellent quality, users just need to be aware of their own needs for it.
I needed a submersible pump to drain the water table from the drive in order that we could repair a mains water leak. The unit is very robust, easy to set-up and use. Couple of things a buyer needs to think about. These are not because the Unit is poorly designed though. If you are using this to drain water to the bottom of a water level then you will have to manually lift the float and lower it when the water drains to the bottom. There will then be some back fill from the attached hose pipe. Flat hosepipes are recommended, BUT, if you use these they need to be kept laid straight and without kinks otherwise the water can fail to reach the end of the hose. Ordinary hosepipes do NOT fit as they are three quarter inch in general. You will need to buy separate hose which can be expensive. I bought Lay flat Hose 10 meters long by 32mm or 1.25" about £10, far cheaper and more durable than ribbed black hosing. You will also need a jubilee clip to connect. Bottom line is that for what i needed this unit met the criteria and was very well built.

Shifts the water but float switch is hit and miss
It is a powerful pump but I just wish there was a better way of triggering it than the float switch. Why can't someone invent a switch that detects the water level in a different way. I need this to shift water off a patio when it floods but obviously the float switch is no use as it has to float well above the level of the pump to trigger. Then the base of the pump and water inlet is raised off the ground by 3-4cm so it doesn't fully clear it. I have now had a sump dug about 45cm to take the pump and allow the float switch to work. It says somewhere that the level it triggers at can be adjusted, but how??? In the end I got a Velcro band and clamped the float wire to the body of the pump to make it shorter and thus trigger at a lower level. Even then, it carries on sometimes after the water has gone, as it depends on how the float sits. Please someone - invent a pump that deals with low depths of flooding automatically, so you can go away without worrying!
