(The original Supernatural debuted in 2005 on the WB, and continues on the CW.) Sam and Dean Winchester are Hunters--licensed officers who tool around the United States in a classic black Chevy Impala, pursuing demons, ghosts, vampires, and other evil spirits. They're also looking for their father, a Hunter who's chasing the evil entity that killed their mother. Almost all the specters strike attractive young women, and the series soon devolves into a damsel-in-distress formula, with Sam and Dean arriving in the nick of time to dispatch the threat with silver bullets, salt, and fire. Some of the episodes are reworked from the original program; others are new story lines for the characters. But too many of them play like a mash-up of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Hardy Boys. Supernatural: The Anime Series recalls old live-action-based Saturday morning shows like The Karate Kid and Fonz and the Happy Days Gang. The designs for the characters are stiff, and the animation remains minimal, with still drawings accompanying voice-over dialogue. Although there are occasional interesting special effects, the series doesn't really make use of the potential that animation offers. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles repeat their roles as Sam and Dean, and appear in tight T-shirts to introduce each episode. (Not rated; suitable for ages 14 and older: graphic violence, violence against women and children, grotesque imagery, animal cruelty, alcohol use, potentially offensive religious imagery) --Charles Solomon

Both a Great Re-Invention and Original Tales for Sam and Dean Winchester...
Having bought the Complete Series on Blu-Ray of the Live Action Series, This i had bought the Anime on Youtube and thoroughly enjoyed the series, so wanted to get this to make a Physical Library as well as a digital. Whilst it doesnt come with The standard Gag Reel not being made for Anime shows, but instead we get a A making of, mostly in Japanese, interviews with the Japanese Voice Actors, Original Series Actors Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki and Series Creator Eric Kripke.Episodes that have been remade some are worse thay the Original ('Moonlight', The Anime Remake of 'Heart' from Season 2, lacks the emotional weight that the closing moments of Dean offering to save Sam from having to kill her and the heartbreak seeing his brother trying to hold it together as he is breaking down inside...) others such as 'Nightmare' (Remake of the Season 1 episode of the same name) delving deeper in the abuse Max suffered at the hands of his father, makes you more sympathetic to why Max di what he did.Wether Anime is your thing or Not and wether you like Supernatural or Not, give the Anime a shot as it beautifully mixes What fans love about The Original and Anime/J-horror Fans love of their favorite ghost and demons get a look....Take a dip.

Pleasantly surprised
When obtaining this i was somewhat cautious, being a fan of the original show, I wasnt sure how I would receive the anime adaptation, but it didn't disappoint, it varies from the show in certain ways, whilst keeping true to the show in others, its like an additional universe to the Supernatural show. It has anime exclusive stories, that fans will love and anime watchers would probably enjoy too, regardless of the branding.Top Buy! Definitely recommended!

Loosely Based
Even known I am enjoying watching this alternative series.... sadly they don't stick to what has been made official fact within in the show. Vampires are born in this series instead of being humans who are turned! Being that said I would actually accept a episode in the original Supernatural tv show where two Vampires have a baby (would make an interesting twist)Also I doubt you could watch the Anime without atleast known the storyline of season 1 and 2 as the Anime starts half way through the trip in search of their father (after Jessica's death) but as you watch the series much of the story is revealed through flashbacks.Fantastic spin off to put the series to a new audience but it only recieves four stars for the minor changes to Monsters and other well established origins within the TV show itself :(

Anime based on the successful tv program
American television isn’t a very common source for Japanese anime, but this particular anime not only uses the successful tv program of the same name as it’s inspiration , but does in a way that remains faithful to the original. If you liked the tv show, you will like this anime.

its okay
It's not too bad, but I prefer the live action tv show. I find the animators could have been better with the drawings. The episodes are very short and not in depth like the original- it's just my opinion.
