1804: The Hidden History of Haiti

Another watershed moment in Black history . 1804 the history of Haiti is the quintessential documentary explaining in great detail about the Haitian Revolution . All I have to say is buy this documentary, do not bootleg it , buy it . Thank you again brother Tariq Nasheed for bringing us the truth about our history . We cannot wait for the dominant society to dictate the narrative we must tell our own unapologetic history. The reason the Haitian revolution was omitted in history books, is because the Haitians successfully defeated the Europeans using the African spiritual system known as voodoo. they were outgunned with those Haitians summing up the power of the ancestors and defeated the enemy. But don't want to spoil it for you all, get this documentary and let us start patronizing our black filmmakers so our story will be told in truth and Justice.

This is perfect for the classroom. My students are 9-12. It’s a great tool for teaching empathy as well as the history of the rebellion. I bought this with my OWN money because I already knew how GREAT this is. It’s a bit of a documentary but the people they interview are interesting to my students!! Highly recommend!!!

Money WELL SPENT ! 👍 Tariq Nasheed does it, YET AGAIN ! This is a GREAT Documentary, for ALL of us in the African Diaspora, & ALL throughout the so-called "Conscious Community" ( MST of A, Nation of Islam, 5%Nation, Universal Zulu Nation, Hebrew Israelites, Rastafarians, Pan-Africanists, Black Panthers, Pro-Black Intellectuals, HBCU College Grads, etc.) Actual interviews with REAL HAITIANS ! Even a cameo from Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, telling his version of events, on how the powers-that-be, sabotaged his campaign for the Presidency of Haiti ! A mention & visual of Prophet NOBLE DREW ALI & MARCUS GARVEY ! Extensive detailed profiles of Jean-Jaques Dessalines, Dutty Bookman, Toussaint L'Overture, etc. The role that Haitian Women played, in the Revolution ! Even how ISLAM, had a slight role, in the Revolution & spirit of Haiti ! The ONLY THING, that could have made this documentary BETTER, is if they mentioned the hatred directed towards Haitians, from Dominicans ! This documentary acts as the explicit undisputed PROOF, that international racist powers have sabotaged Haiti's growth & advancent AFTER 1804, the SAME WAY that "Black Wallstreet" was destroyed in Tulsa, Oklahoma ! The fear from so-called White Supremacists, seeing Afro-Asiatic peoples rise up, & have political, social & economic power, IS REAL ! ! !

I purchased this documentary and showed it during Thanksgiving Dinner. I am a 1st generation Haitian American. My entire family from my 85 year old grandfather to my 7 year old daughter LOVED this documentary. There was so much we did not know and much we did. Our family had so much great dialogue while watching. We paused it several times so that my grandfather can share his memories from his childhood. This is a great body of work. We watched this documentary several times since then. This documentary should be included as required viewing in schools (elementary, middle and high school).

I believe there is no other real life story like it. Its incredible. Enslaved people rise up and kill their enslavers. Then they beat 3 super powers to maintain that freedom. The final thing that I really love is that they were the first nation on the planet to abolish slavery permanently. We all know why this isnt taught in schools. Like Malcolm X said. "Only a fool will let his enemy teach his children." Teach your kids yourself the most important aspects of history. They need it like a knight needs armor.

I really enjoyed watching this DVD. The fact that the creators of hidden colors decided to give Haiti credit as pioneers and show that we have a history of bravery and strong spirits while at a time of oppression shows that this goes beyond nationality. Haiti's history IS black history. A lot of interesting information provided and well told. Very accurate, I might add. I suggest that everyone continue to support their movement of educating black youth about their history globally.

Excellent movie true knowledge to it's fullest. This year or 2020 traveling to Hattie and Jamaica, I want to be a billionaire to repair its needed structure and much more. Work with Whyclf and others. I have seen the movie several months ago, when I think about it email family/friends "This movie is much needed to be watch get your copy today, pay it forward people!".

This film is definitely a must watch if you want really good historical information that is not always presented. Haiti is rarely painted in a positive light. This film allows people to not only get a more robust understanding of the history of this nation, but develops a stronger level of respect for the nation with regard to where they have been, what they have gone through, the POSITIVE things they’ve done as a nation for other nations (which nobody ever really talks about), and things that they are stil currently going through. I really enjoyed this!

It arrived on time, perfect packaging. Great documentary. It is a Must Watch!

Great video with great info and honest perspective

Worth watching but probably not for people already very aware of the revolution. The DVD is more of an introduction than providing particular insight into the revolution.

Move was very informative.

I love this documentary. Must see. If you haven't seen Hidden Colors series yet, you definitely should. Same producer.
