It is not my first IODD product as I have previously purchased and used portable HDD that can use ISO file like CD-ROM which I still use today. So when new dock showed up, I had to try and see if it is worth the price. I am not as satisfied as my other IODD portable HDD due to the usage is limited or to be really useful, I need another dock so I wonโt have to physically carry the dock back and forth between home and at work. That is another $70 dollars and where the price of electronics are so cheap, it seems very difficult to justify the cost. However, as a secure dock for bare HDD at home, it works just fine. Content: Power supply, a warranty card, docking unit. Missing part is the manual itself which needs to be viewed online which is not convenient. Online manual: It is available in English and also some Youtube short version as well for quick learning Speed: I transferred 20GB of data to see how it stack up with other USB 3.0. It was ~105MB/s so it is about average for USB 3.0 dock. Usage: Encryption is simple and works well, but in order to decrypt, it loses all HDD data. This logic is somewhat difficult to understand, but entire encryption is on the HDD and not on the dock, it can be transferred to the other dock and use the assigned code and unlock. It can lock out so just read-only mode as well. It has some features that no other USB docks I have seen. Overall impression: I had to download FW (R81_B00) to the latest to get rid of some issues from the website. It also has IODD Bundle Program which I did download from the website but yet to try yet. For the IT people who need encryption feature, I think this is great dock to have. For someone just needs to access bare HDD now and then will be overwhelmed by the features available. I think Iโll wait for the dock price to drop another $20 and then buy one more so I can have two docks.
