I was a bit nervous about some of the bad reviews but found this fryer really easy to use. Trial and error at first with the temperature, but made notes for next use. Just note that the dial is a guide, not the law. Heated up quickly, maintained temperature and cooked well. Seems sturdy, good non slip feet and the lid is cool touch so checking food was easy and safe. It is very small, you could do chips for two if they were sensible portions. I'm really pleased with it. It feels like fair quality for the price, and it works.

I liked it because it is small, easy to clean and fry’s a variety of foods with excellent temperature control. It is small though and is really only suitable for use by one person, I haven’t any negative comments and I would buy another.

Nice fryer but not big enough

I use the double/triple fry method for chips and I have to remove the basket for the last quick fry on a high temperature. It's so small that when I use the basket with just one portion and with the oil at the right level marker, the oil just erupts from it. Hot oil all over the worktop. What a mess. So I've bought a long handled wire strainer instead to safely remove the chips once they are ready. Putting the basket in it again on 180 degrees is just too dangerous. The handle is also very unstable and the basket wobbles. If you're using frozen chips or fries I'd let them defrost first as that's also very risky as the ice turns to water in the fryer and it's too small for the extra liquid. I only bought it as I rarely make chips and just make a small portion, but this is just way too small. Update: this is too dangerous to use in my opinion. Even though I defrosted some frozen french fries first it almost caused an accident at the weekend as it started roaring and hot oil shot out of it as I tried to switch it off. I've never heard such a noise it was absolutely terrifying trying to stop the oil flying out of it. I won't be using this again. The oil inside was below the max level too and the fryer wasn't on too high but I believe the thermostat is broken because things had started getting very brown quickly on only 150 degrees. Looking at all the customer reviews stating this is dangerous and going back years I'm disgusted it wasn't withdrawn from sale. It said it was a 4 star product!

Great little fryer. Perfect for one person. I did homemade southern fried chicken & chips. Photos show how well they came out. Gorgeous chicken but chips needed longer. I only left them in for 10mins, leave for 20 if you want them crunchy. As you can see the viewing window totally misted up, you can’t see a thing so that’s a bad point but I just lifted the lid it’s easier! Only other negative is the basket handle, it’s useless! I used a pair of tongs instead, much safer. I also took the food out with the tongs whilst basket still in oil then lifted the basket out after as it’s less weighty (like a feather). Can’t really fault this for the price, under £20! You could literally take it anywhere it’s so small. Massively better than an air fryer, I gave my air fryer away as this is way better!

I used deep fryer before and one thing I like is that whatever you cook it doesn't get too oily. I always put a napkin under the meat, chips, etc to soak up the excess oil but by using a deep fryer there isn't really any oil to soak up. It's not the most important thing but I like its look, cute small deep fryer and you don't even need 1l oil. You just need to put the oil, switch it on and wait for the oil to get hot. Once that's done, put the food you want to cook, wait and once you feel it's cooked remove the basket. Once finished, switch it off and wait for the oil to cool. I ordered this small one as I'm alone and it's the perfect size. Delivery was fast.

2nd time I used this the thermostat didn’t work! The dangerous part about this item is according to the manufacturer’s instructions is to locate the handle whilst the basket is in the very hot oil! Very awkward to do and to me very difficult and dangerous. On the good side it is nice and small and did make delicious chips! Also the book says up to 20 mins to heat up! it only takes 4-5 mins!

The fryer is small but the basket holds sufficient food (chips) for one or two if light eaters . The basket is 4.5" x 2" internal. When filled to the marked level it is less than one litre. There is a thin filter in the lid , I have used the fryer five times so far and the filter is as new. It is recommended to replace the oil after eight fryings. The chips are nice and crispy. 175*c - 180*c is the recommended temp. for chips. The initial heat up is about 20min's but appears to takes less time on subsequent use. I would recommend this fryer.
