Thought provoking
I work in a secondary school and noticed this book was on the reading list for Year 7 & 8. I bought it so I could discuss along with the children (I,m not a teacher) . Its not an exam book but it was very soul lseaarching into how people especially young people react to disfigurement, Well written and sensitive. I did find some of the gang type speech a bit difficult to understand but that was part of the culture the boy lived in. Mr. Zeptharia is on a level with the surroundings and lifestyle of these areas,

Another important message
Zephaniah has done it again with another scenario and story accessible to younger children but tackling important issues for debate. Here it is the nature of difference and friendship. Not as powerful or moving as ‘Refugee Boy’ or ‘Windrush Child’. There is a play version of this story which I think might be a more effective medium for the story.

A Must Read
Essentially discussing that 'beauty is found within' Face is the story if an attractive teenage boy who is scarred from a car accident. Once a loud and brash young man who relied on his looks to get to where he wanted to go, he discovers that it his passions and talents for gymnastic and true friendships that matter more than anything. It is a deep text discussing themes such as trauma, love and friendship and should be part of everyone's collection, whether on kindle or hard copy.

An important book for our image obsessed times
Well written, funny and made me and my son think. You come across books like this from time to time. Books which change your outlook. This one certainly did.

Great book!!!
I first read Ben's books as a teenager in school, I loved them then and I love them now. They have been read over and over numberous times. I am 22, they have been written for a younger audience (teens) but I knew this :) I have 3/4 of Ben's books and as a teen they helped me appreciate what I had in life and helped me realize how important life really is etc because of what happens to the people in his storys etc. Very engaging read!! Delivery and packaging were prompt. No problems what so ever. Very happy!!!

For teenagers!!
My son has dyslexia and comprehension difficulties but this book he studied at school and he so enjoyed it. He loved it so much I bought him a copy for home. He found it so well written and I don't know whether other parents like myself with teenage boys have real difficulties finding a novel that will interest them, well here it is!! Also this author wrote Gangsta Rap which is an absolute must. Good luck and hope your boys like the books as well.
