does it wash off when i wash my hands?

Short Answer: YesLong answer: Its very tough, using an old bar soap isn't really going to cut it, I used washing up liquid (good quality one that's green if you catch my drift) did the job but only after 2 - 3 goes,It's very strong stuff - which is what you want to stop biting! - even after getting out the swimming pool you can still taste that terrible bitter taste if you feel the temptation,Some people use nail varnish but that washes off far too easily,I work in an office environment so I have no issue, but you couldn't use this product if you worked in food preparation because it's just too strong (or you could prepare food with gloves on)I would compare this product to an extreme chilli pepper on your fingers/thumb - tread very carefully - but at the end of the day it does exactly what is says on the tin - trust me it will stop  the biting - your brain will very quickly register `I don't like that, I'm not doing that again'.Any other questions let me know

can I use it on my two and a half year old

Yes you can I used on my 1year old and he hasn't sucked it since then it took him under 3 weeks but you have to be prepared watching ur child crying because something like fingers has been taken away..be consistent otherwise there's no point..works!

Odd question I'm an adult but have the awful habit. Will this be suitable ?

Of course. I bought this once only. However if your saliva even comes in contact - it tastes disguisting! This includes brushing your teeth. Personally, I bought sally Hanson miracle grow nails which will grow your nails but if you don't have the will power use this and trust me you will stop. Take care.

Can you apply it on top of nail polish?

When I did it it took the nail varnish off like nail varnish remover. Don't recommend.
