CansonXL Series Recycled Bristol Pad, Foldover, 11x14 inches, 25 Sheets - Artist Paper for Students, Marker, Pen, Ink, Pencil

I’m an artist myself, when I heard my friend was taking art classes & couldn’t find a paper she liked, I bought this tried and proven drawing paper. I gave it to her recently for her birthday along with some art tools. She loves it and claims her skills are improving. This paper is great for mixed media art.

Bought for my grand daughter to use with her Pascal? markers. They are pretty expensive, high quality markers so was trying to find paper good enough to match them.

This review is about XL Bristol Vellum. I’ve attached a photo of the inside cover of this pad of paper which indicates in its chart that XL Bristol Vellum works well with watercolor. After my test, I believe it - it certainly works well with water color pencil :)Detail: I rigorously tested this paper with a combo of liquid masking fluid applied three ways (ruler pen, marker, and silicon brush), followed by water color pencil (applied two ways - pencil then wet brush, & wet brush then pencil), followed by layers of color pencil (some applied light, some stronger strokes), followed by burnishing parts with colored pencil, blending parts with a stump, and blending parts with mineral oil. Masking fluid came off EASILY after 24 hours on paper! No bleeding above or below masking fluid. I even used an electric eraser to test that (did pretty well, darker colors tended to dye paper/harder to lift, but definite lightening without noticeably damaging paper). The paper held up great! No bleed through of wet or eraser or pencil pressure to the other side. FYI, I used one piece of paper taken out of the pad without stretching it or tacking it down - just loose. There was a slight curling but not too bad. No warping. No bubbling. No pooling. Because of the slight curling, I’d recommend using artist tape to tape it down. Curling righted itself when I put under the pad of paper once it was dry. FYI, There is enough tooth in the paper that it took several layers of colored pencil. -but smooth enough to blend nicely. I used Caran d’Arch water color pencils and Prismacolor Premier pencils. I used a water brush to apply water (so not sopping wet, so can’t attest to full water color wet on wet use). Mineral oil used liberally for blending pencils did not bleed through to other side.I’m very pleased, will enjoy using and will buy again. 5 stars!

I wanted a really big pad of paper and this isn’t as big as I thought it would be I mean it’s big but not big enough you can do decent work on it but not as big as intended oh well I live and learn

Sturdy paper for alcohol ink markers. There is still bleed through, though.

The paper quality is very good and seems to work with many types of applications well.

This is a vey good note book it is very DURABLE and perfect for ARTISTS its more of a heavy duty paper and good for drawing with posca markers DEFINITELY RECOMMEND 💫!! I LOVE IT SM...

It's winter so it's cold and the glue attaching the paper to the protective cover came undone in shipping no paper was folded but with the massive size of the box that's a risk

Unfortunately, I purchased because it stated bright white and is not, a little on the creamy side

A little $ pricey $ but beautiful stuff hahaWill probably buy again

The paper itself is great, the pad is quality and great for markers but I was compelled to write a review because this supplier mailed the pad in a simple plastic enveloppe with no protection. So I received a pad with bent corners. Each sheet has dents in the corners so selling art with these requires me to trim those edges. I will order from a different supplier next time.

The size is pretty big, I thought it would be smaller but that's just my mistake. The paper quality is great, very thick, good for any mediums. I actually love this brand and recommend it to you!! The sketchbooks, paper pads, paper is great quality for any mediums and all sizes.
