Expensive but super useful!
Like others have said, this isn't cheap for an enclosure. But it's well made by OWC who are renowned for their Mac products, and this worked a treat at letting me use an old 2015 Macbook Pro SSD. Looked at other methods, but in the end I decided that this was the most pain-free option, and thankfully it lived up to that thought process. Highly recommended, although keep an eye on the price at it fluctuates a bit!

The only one for the job
Rather expensive but the only option for 2014 and later MacBook Airs and Pros. Well made. Couldn't find any other way of reading the SSD sticks other than using this. There seems to be other adapters available to interface with the SSD, but those adapters themselves seem to need adapters too, and as the SSDs are expensive I decided not to risk a home-brewed combination.

Used by Apple. Data Recovery
My 2015 mid macbook pro (work laptop) just fried and died. Had 4 years worth of work on it, (Im a designer).Spoke to apple business, and they reccomended this unit. As its the same unit they use in apple stores for data recovery. The unit is proper top spec, made from the same material as apple products. The ssd clicks in easy. You must plug this into a mac os computer via usb 3.0. Or use an adapter to usb C. Got all my work back. Now can use this unit as a really nice top end external harddrive. And now looking for a good cloud storage plan, as ive been stressing my head off for theblast 48hours.Also buy the reccomended screw set for this unit via here on amazon, I didn't. Now I'm waiting till tomorow for that now. Duh.Peace x

Insanely overpriced but if you're with Mac this is likely the only one that will work with your SSD
Works fine, looks good, but boy is it expensive.Essentially the same sort of thing as you can get for SSDs for PC, but four times the price. Unfortunately none of the non-OWC enclosures seem to work with Mac. I spent days researching them and even bought one such alternative on Amazon only to have to return it later b/c it didn't work despite what the seller said.I get that Mac stuff costs more and that most of the time it's worth it, but you probably got this solely so you could wipe your old SSD before selling it, after upgrading your computers SSD. So you'll use it once then sell it online (luckily you can get an ok price for it that way).Giving it 4 stars since the thing itself works fine.

Reliable bit of kit!
I was in need of a caddy, as my MBP's screen had stopped working and I had no access to my data or even a back up of it. I was recommended to check out OWC, after looking at several other caddies and the Envoy Pro did its job without any problems. The build quality is on point, as the caddy has a premium feel to it and the whole process of inserting your SSD into it was easy! When using it, it feels pretty cool to be using two Apple based SSDs at the same time. It also comes with a pretty nice pouch, as well as the appropriate cables. The downside to the overall product is that for the price, you don't even get a screwdriver or l-key with it. Fortunately, I had other tools, which helped me put the caddy together. Overall, it's a reliable bit of kit!

This enclosure corrupted my SSD
Working with this enclosure has caused me a lot of headaches. The moment I installed my MBPro Late 2013 SSD, the thing began to heat up beyond what I assume would be normal usage. After taking it out and trying it again on the MB, the boot partition was no longer even recognised, not even recovery mode would boot up. Went through a long and arduous process to recover the disk from corruption. The enclosure is is overtly expensive, doesn't work well and, since the seller resides outside of the UK, returning it is apparently going resulting to be quite the hassle as well.

Expensive
My Apple MacBook Pro was damaged by wine. I recovered the SSD. Apple again is unique and finding a Holder for data transfer was difficult. This was the only device I found for the Apple SSD...but at 4x the price for a standard PC SSD Holder.!! plus I had to buy MacDrive Software to transfer the contents to a Windows 10 PC.So value for money certainly not. But necessary if you need the Data from an Apple Computer.

Only external interface for Apple SSD with proprietary interface
I’ve used to recover the data in the hard disk of a dead MacBook Pro. Worked perfectly and it saved me the time to send the laptop to a data recovery center (the expense is similar, but depends on the center, data, etc). The interface is super fast compared to usb 3 and 3.1 devices; after recovery I still use the hard disk as an additional backup. To fully enjoy the enclosure be sure to have at hand the proper screwdrivers; the ones used to open the Mac and remove the internal ssd are just fine.Pricey but the only external usb alternative.
