What type of wall can the seat be mounted on?

I would only be comfortable fitting the seat to a solid wall. If you have a stud wall it would be best to ask a carpenter/builder for advice.

The standard of stud walls varies quite a bit. If it’s decent, say 4x2”, and you can screw directly into the stud battens, then yes. If you’re relying on expanding wall plugs, designed for plaster board, I’d be doubtful. If it’s cement board, designed for shower surround then maybe OK. The issue is that the holes, on the part that sits on the wall, are fixed distances apart and it is unlikely both sides would match up the stud battens. If you’re building the stud wall, then you could insert cross pieces to match the wall plate.

Sorry, several years since I bought this, don’t know. But it is well made and folds out of the way. Do follow the recommendations on the fitting height, otherwise it could be too high!

Stylish and effective.

I only have a smallish shower enclosure which won't fit a stand alone chair in it. This seemed an excellent replacement and it is! I'm so pleased with it in every way. Seat down its plenty big enough and strong enough for my ample rear. Seat folded up it is small, neat and unobtrusive. I fitted it myself (74 year old female) without any problems. I tried a no 10 drill bit and, whilst it makes fitting somewhat easier, the recommended no 9 bit gives a far more secure fit. Yes the seat flexes down slightly when you sit on it but it feels safe and comfortable. Will be so easy to clean as well. 5* all round.

A great piece of home-life equipment, but installation can be problematic! Please read.

Re the installation of the seat:-Firstly 9 mm drill bits are as rare as unicorns, so you might want to go with 10 mm fixings instead.More importanly DO NOT TRUST THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOX. BE AWARE THAT THE TOP OF THE SEAT IS WHAT FITS ONTO THE BRACKET, SO YOU NEED TO CALCULATE WHERE THE SEAT IS GOING TO BE WITH RESPECT TO THE BRACKET, WHICH IS ABOUT 50 CM BELOW THE BRACKET. TRUST ME, MEASURE TWICE AND DRILL ONCE!Once the seat is installed at the correct height (seat at about 50-55 cm from the base of the shower) this is a great piece of kit.

Reasonable price.The seating position looks odd due to elevation. However this is to compensate for weight.Would not use the screws provided due to limited Philips cross head depth.Size 9 masonry bit required for the plugs provided.Brown plugs adequate.5 fixings.

Cheapest around & good quality

Very strurdy,dad needed a shower seat like this & this 1 came back cheaper for the same as advertised on other sites.great price.But it is slippy as water puddles on top of it.so could do with abit of a grip on it to help you sit in place abit like a rubber bath mat .
