Almased - Soya, Yogurt and Honey Meal Replacement for Weight Control, 500 g, Powder

Didn't take me too long to get used to Almased - if you flavour it right, it is absolutely fine. I am on Day 28 having lost 5.8 kg (13 lbs) since 1st January and my goal is to lose 3 stone in total. Since Day 1 I have been having 2 shakes a day made with water (a shake for breakfast and a shake for dinner and a "normal food" healthy lunch around 500-600 calories) as suggested in the Reduction Phase which you can keep doing until you've reached your goal weight. Once I added a teaspoon of UNSWEETENED COCOA POWDER as suggested (I recommend 1 heaped teaspoon of Green and Black's Organic Cocoa from Tesco, Waitrose or any standard supermarket) as suggested, it tastes like a chocolate milkshake and is so much more palatable. I make all my shakes with water, not milk. The product has skimmed milk powder in it already and once you shake and blend it and pour it, it thickens up and to me tastes fine. I did try it with almond milk on the first day but just could not drink it. It was thick and gloopy so I always make mine with water. As soon as I start to drink the shake, I feel energised and it's as if I have had a shot of caffeine but there is no caffeine in this product. Must be the vitamins. I am having a shake at breakfast, veg soup and high protein salad and 1 ryvita for lunch or stir fry with tofu or chicken and noodles etc and shake for dinner. This is the most effective product I have tried in years. I am really thrilled and I feel great and can notice that I have toned up already as the protein content is high. I am also walking at least 5,000 steps a day and doing 40 mins power yoga a day. Fantastic product. If you are disciplined and cut out all the bad stuff, you will see results. And I don't feel hungry on it either.

I read a lot of rubbish about this before trying it and listened to all the people who moan about the taste so here is my verdict. So far 10kg lost over 6 weeks. So as part of a calorie-controlled diet, it works like a charm. I have a shake for breakfast a shake for lunch and a veggie or vegan stir fry or 600 calories of veggies for dinner. Its probably not their plan but this as a chef and a qualified nutritionist works for me. Weight loss is steady and healthy there is never a quick fix for weight loss I am 60 years old so trust me when I say I have tried everything in those years at various times when I need to lose weight. In comparison to the big shake based diets to me, the nutritional profile is better, it's not loaded with synthetic flavours and sweeteners. I hear people moan about the taste but part of eating healthy and losing weight is about retraining your mind and taste buds that a double chocolate peanut butter flavour is not the one you need. So yes it natural but not unpleasant and its a great base, if you want or can afford the calories to pimp up then fine but it works as it comes. In terms of satiating hunger again I presume as it partially fermented protein base it does a good job i don't feel hungry or running to the next shake early which you can get with the big fake shakes. I mix it to my own formula that works for me. Which is the standard amount plus 100 ml of homemade Kefir as I am a big proponent of probiotics to help gut health. I then bring the mix up to 1ltr with water. The additional water helps with hydration and I spread it out over 10 minutes. So anyway very happy so far and if you want to lose weight remember no miracle, stone age, new age fad diet or book will make you lose weight faster than just simply reducing calories. Work on good nutrition and exercise. And I am not even selling you a book or video LOL

Not as thick and glutinous as slim fast shake. Slim fast is a lot cheaper, probably just as effective and tastes better. But I have read about yoghurt being an effective slimming aid and this contains it. Also the flavour is kind of malty whereas slim fast shakes tend to be sweet and this is not always what you want to taste. So you can alter the flavour to curry or add a turmeric supplement or one of those sachets of wheatgrass from Aldi range and it doesn't clash with an existing flavour(eg slim fast raspberry). So in that way it is more diverse. Not sure a tub is worth £25 but I think it is effective- anything that causes you to eat less calories will be- and seems to have al the nutrients you expect and need. The flavour is down to your opinion.i like it. But it is definitely less filling than slim fast.

It is obviously hard for a non-professional to write an objective review, so here comes my personal view of it. I bought the product on the recommendation of my sister, who lives in Germany, We were talking about a product which is good for you, helps you to lose just a few pounds easily and which to us importantly is not too sweet. She buys Almased at a health store and it can cost her around 16 Euros. She said she does not feel hungry with it and loses the few pounds to feel good in a special dress for a special occasion. I bought it on Amazon, as it's not available in UK shops and paid over £30.00 for it. I tried it first to replace breakfast and it tasted ok, not sweet and I felt ok on it. I was quite encouraged and did not feel like overeating at the next meal either. However, a few days later I replaced 2 meals with it (breakfast and lunch), but I had added some honey and a banana and also drank decaffeinated teas and water, however, I really felt lacking in energy by mid afternoon and realised I could no way continue to use Almased for even 1 whole day, let alone for several days., i just felt too rough. It could be to do with my age (I am over 60) and maybe I was too active, maybe if I had rested more it might have been ok. So in summing up I personally would use it to replace 1 meal per day, but not more than that, or maybe if I was ill and resting in bed with no appetite, then it might be useful. I would not buy it again, certainly not at the UK price.

The first two days felt like a hangover, I wasn't sure I will be able to stick with it. The taste was awful until I worked out that a bit of vanilla essence and Stevia sweetener work for me. Then on the third day I started having lots of energy, my skin was clearer, the headache was gone and I wasn't hungry. Losing weight was slow, maybe because I'm size 10 trying to go back to 8. But I was feeling so great, I decided to carry on. I kept losing the weight, feeling very healthy and relaxed. Overall I thought it will be hard to stick just to milkshakes, but it was actually the easiest part. I still go for coffees with friends! But i have no ds worries if my body is getting the right vitamins and minerals while dieting, Almased does that for me. I would say give it a try. Don't dwell on it if you don't like the taste, it's just a glass a day. Fingers crossed it will work for you as well as for me.

Brought this because if had amazing reviews. Delivery was quickly and wasn't that expensive. That's the good part. Downside, taste revolting, very grainy, babyish food powder formula tasting, despite adding berries, seeds even chocolate drinking powder. Still awful. I either had bloated, painful stomach pains or diarrhoea . Followed the instructions to the tee (daughter reads/speaks German, just incase I missed something in yhe English version). Definitely will not be buying this again or recommending it. Waste of money.

I decided to try this product as since hitting age 50 I've put on half a stone and have had trouble losing it by simply cutting down on meal portion sizes and watching calorie intake (as always used to work in the past!). All I can say is that I am amazed at how effective Almased has been, so far. I have lost 6lb in 5 days and just need another 4lb to go to reach my target, which I fully expect to do before the end of next week. I mix the powder with skimmed milk; I've found the taste very pleasant, sort of malty like Horlicks, and the "chalky" consistency makes it feel like you are drinking something filling and substantial. I also add ice as I prefer milky drinks to be very cold. Each shake keeps me feeling full for the 4-5 hours it claims in the instructions, so I've not felt at all hungry. Also by having the final shake at 9pm I've managed to avoid any night-time hunger pangs. Very very good product; a bit of a "crash" diet for sure (certainly if you do the shakes only option for 14 days) but if you need a quick fix for going on holiday or a special occasion, this could be it! Highly recommend.

I had read a lot of negative reviews about this product but I chose because of the protein content. In my honest opinion it really does work. I did 2 shakes a day, morning and lunch then had a regular meal in the evening. It helps you maintain calorie deficit whilst not having to count everything, which for me was a plus as I simply don't have the time. I lost a stone in weight in about 2 months, going at a steady pace and with regular exercise. I suppose you will get that with any calorie deficit plan but I liked that its quick and simple. I went for the unflavoured version and added frozen berried into the blender for a hint of taste. It was yum. Overall I would recommend this product. Like anything it isn't a magick wand and you have to eat a balanced diet and exercise. I do also suppose that it is a little expensive for the amount you get but I would say its a high quality product.
